 Herping in st. louis?

I live in Missouri not St. Louis in South East Missouri. Its pretty easy to find Ring Neck snakes and such on Rocky wooded hill sides most productive South facing. If your lucky you might stumble across a Copper Head at the edge of a wood line. Usually under old wood and old pieces of metal and tin. Your best bet is to drive down old country roads at night. If there are any country roads there lol.

THANKS I`LL SEE WHAT I CAN FIND
WE`RE ACTUALLY STAYING IN BALLWIN RIGHT BY CASTLEWOOD STATE PARK
I`LL SEE IF I CAN FIND SOME OLD ROADS.
THERE IS SO MUCH WILDLIFE AROUND
WE HAVE SEEN WILD TURKEYS , DEER ,A WOOD CHUCK , LOTS OF RABBITS ,ALL THIS RIGHT IN VIEW OF THE ROADS . MY SON HAS ALREADY SEEN A BLACK RATSNAKE , AND ALOT OF FROGS , AND A COUPLE TURTLES RIGHT WHERE HE IS STAYING. BUT WE REALLY CAN`T LOOK THERE.
I`LL KEEP YOU POSTED

Herping in st. louis? REAL answer.

i know most give you b.s. on this question.... If you are familiar with I44....go past the city past fenton and (sorry this is vague) take a few exits after that, just roll off the exit and drive a back road abit. when you find an area of trees, esp. near the river there are pulloffs you can park at and go walk near the river or around wooded area. It’s worth checking out even though its soooo vague, sorry dont remember any names but in general a very nice area when you get out of the city parts. Lots of natural formations (bluffs) and wildlife to go with it.

Herping in st. louis? REAL answer.

thanks
unfortunately we just got back
we did alot of driving . my son was advised not to walk too much , he just got out of a hospitol
but what a beautiful state
there`s alot of state parks , and lots of really good places that looked good for herping. we saw a few skinks , frfogs , and turtles. my son saw a black racer , and a green snake on the hospitol property ,
we did see alot of deer , rabbits , and turkeys right in view from the roads, even saw what looked like a woodchuck. just a really pretty state ,
