Spring is hear, in South Eastern WI
He says "no man, they aren’t out yet, it just got done with winter, and its TOO wet." I say "TOO WET!!!!???? Thats what they like, come on, who knows more about salamanders and herps in general in this car?" anyways, I decided to go out and check to see if the Chorus frogs were calling, and it was pretty mild out, little drizzle I heard a bunch of them calling and decided to press on, even though I told my mom I’d be home in 5-10 minutes, well Im glad I did keep going, because I descovered more breeding pools around my house!! first find was a tiger salamander, but I forgot I had my camera in my pocket I was so excited! then I found 2 spotted salamanders (pics of one of them) Ambystoma Maculatum
then I found a bunch of blue spotted sals as well, way smaller then the one I have at home that I raised form larvae 2 years ago Ambystoma laterale
and lastly I scouted the edge of the pond for breeding salamanders, heres what I found two Eastern Tigers Ambystoma tigrinum tigrinum
I also found a bullfrog, didn’t get a photo |

during the breeding season/migration you can find them crossing roads on rainy nights, thats were I found most of them, except the 2 that were in the water, they were swiming around this past Thursday I went out again, found 4 blues potted salamanders and 6 tigers, they are all males Im finding, the females have yet to come!
