 Costa rica

I just found this part of all the forums and I like field herping. I’ll drop in later to show some pics of swedish animals and from my trips to Costa rica.
Its free for anyone else to do the same.

Ok, lets try this thing... I just realized I dont have that many of my pictures on the net, so I’ll post what I have for now and I might get back with some more another time.
I guess you can play with the picture address to se them in a larger format (they shrink to fit the page here).

First a few Vipera berus here in sweden:

Now Costa rica, starting with a gladiator frog (Hyla rosenbergi)

And one more

Then one of the leaf litter frogs, Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri

One more

Here is a cat-eyed snake, Leptodeira (septentrionalis?)

one more

And an eyelash pit viper, Bothriechis schlegelii

And a small unknown snake (to me at least)

And a Norops sp. in the mouth of a mexican mouse opossum (Marmosa mexicana)

There are some more (it should be as I came home with 2000+ pictures...), but they are not on the net yet.

Thanks. The berus is great to take pictures of, this time of year they spend a few weeks around their hibernation pits and are really easy to find as long as you know some of these places. They share the pits with Natrix natrix, I just didnt have a good picture of them.

Hi, I thought so too, but most of the vine snakes in CR have extendet snout, this didnt. Even the short-snout ones look different.

You take really beautiful pictures Jonas77 . . . I have to admit, the lizard in the mouth of the possum made me laugh out loud . . . the possum looks so much like he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar! Thanks for sharing!

He (she?) really was! When we had our head lamps on him/her, he/she froze compleatly. If we got tired of that pose, just turn them off for a few seconds and than on again, and the opossum had moved a tad...

Ok, more pix now that I found a good site to upload at. I didnt have the energy to post-process them, so its basically straight out of the camera. And again, copy the picture adress to see them full size.

A norops (polylepis?)

same frog again

a treefrog tadpole, probably Agalychnis spurrelli

A Ameiva quadrilineata

Some cool leaf-mimic

Anteater with a bee on the ear

A favourite: Gonatodes albogularis

A tapier (needs a tissue) eating ripe figs (dropping down on our tent...)

two more schlegelis

Found another beauty in a valley just walking distance from my house. Figured I’d just put it in the thread I already started.
