Are you talking about a pleco???

If so, they do well with almost any tropical fish. They are peaceful with other fish that are not there own kind. When they get larger they become aggressive at time with each other. Also as long as you provide a hiding place for each of them, you will have peace. You just have to buy they special food call Algae Wafers. They are my husband favorite fish. They get to be really big! Some people don’t like them because they think they make more of mess(fish waste), and they don’t clean the algae very good. They thing is this fish eats algae, plant matter(if you have aquatic plates they will suffer, and if they get really big will eat small fish, they also they need drift wood in there diet. They are omniverase! but they mostly eat algae. If you really want to get fancy you can also get rare plecos but they cost alot of $$$. Some of these don’t grow as big as the common pleco. Yeah they are easy to care for but they do need there own diet.

i have common pleco, and a snowking pleco theyre really big. i wouldnt use algae wafers, theyre really messy. i prefer to tie down cucumber slices or zuchini slices. they like zuchini the best but i heard they can eat carrot slices too. yeah theyre not very good algae cleaners but they do help a bit. they do get big i used to have 2 snowkings plecos that were almost 2 ft i sold it to a fishstore for credit.

yeah when they get bigger its better to not us the algae wafer so much. I like using Zucchini, any leaf veggies but i boil it first to make sure there are no pesticides. We have a common pleco trying to get him big and we want to get a blue phantom soon. We had a large one but he died:(

hey in my opinion, i would get the bushy-nose plecostomus, they work way better than the common pleco and stay much smaller. max length on them is between 4-6 inch. I have them in all of my tanks, since they are small i would recommend you purchase a pieces of drift wood for it to gnaw on and use as shelter to hide. I have had them with Red devils, Oscars, Jack Dempsey and most of the other aggressive south American cichlids with no problem as long as there is a hiding spot.

Actually its untrue that they would do great with the pleco for one thing mostly people get Oscars because they like watching them eat feeder fish. To continue with that the reason why Oscars wouldn’t do good with Pleco’s [ if they were introduced to feeder fish ] is because all it will be to them in their eyes is food and they will gnaw on it or bit it occasionally. A Pleco of course usually just hides in its little rock cave or w/e but even still don’t be surprised if your Oscar ended up eating your pleco or something because that of course is the risk of putting other fish in an aggressive fish tanks. If you want to have oscars that dont eat or attack other fish, then i suggest never ever EVER feed the fish any feeder fish, If they don’t ever eat feeder fish then they wont be as aggressive. This is true too i own a Flower Horn Cichlid and a black arowana housing together, never fed them feeders once and they get along great with the galaxy pleco.
