 New to the fish thing

Hi, I just recently got eight electric yellow african cichlid babies, a friend spawned them. I was wondering if anyone else had them and if you do, could you tell me what other fish I can have in with them, I was told only other african cichlids but there are so many different kinds....

Did you mean Electric Yellow Labidochromis? If you did, those will get about 4 or 5 inches long and they are cichlids so they will need a good amount of tank space to keep from chasing and nipping at each other constantly. What size is your tank?

If you have enough space to accommodate more cichlids, you can try the Yellow Tail Acei, Auratus, Red and Albino Zebra, Kenyi, Bumblebee, and Jewel cichlids. These cichlids range from 4 - 6 inches and with most "African" species they should be kept in groups of one male to a harem of females to prevent over-aggression issues in the tank.

20 gal for 8, 1 cm long fish. Need to let them get bigger.
