55 gallon tank.. Just a quick question, I recently put my goldfish in a 55 gallon tank, and they look beautiful, but I was wondering if they were to pass on (My big one does look a bit under the weather, not sure how she is going to be later on) what are my options for more tropical fish? Any stock ideas? I’m interested in more unique looking fish, I’m not really looking for fish such as cichlids or gouramis (although I do like the pink kissing gourami), or any small community fish like guppies or tetras. Is there anythink maybe a bit eel like that I’ll be able to put in? I’m just looking for more interesting fish that I may take to hobby later on in life.

55 gallon tank.. Thanks xD. I really like the ropefish and bichir. But for the ropefish I’ve heard it’d be better off in a tank a bit bigger than a 55? Not sure though, I’m hearing different things. These are some fish I found that I would be interested in keeping, I want to know what you guys think:
- Peacock Eel
- Pink kissing gourami
- African Butterfly catfish
- Rope/reed fish
- Senegal Bichir
- Upside down catfish
- Possibly a bala shark?
I want to know what you guys think would be a good stocking list from the list I typed above. Are there some of those I can put together? Do some need to be just by themselves (ot itself)? Will a bala shark do good in a 55 gallon?

55 gallon tank.. the ropp fish should be ok, i not sure about the eel, but 1 or two gouramis with the 3 or 4 upsidedown cats might be ok. kissing ouramis do tend to be agressive though. ive never heard of the butterfly cat. the bichir and a few ud cats or the gouramis would prob be ok. as for the bala sharks, sorry, but no. they grow to 14 in, and need to school. you would need a much larger tank for them. i dont know your financial resources, but there are many species of bichir to look into. if you like the gouramis, you may also like the other less agressive species, such as pearl, blue, opaline and little giant. some interesting catfish that your tank could support would be a healthy school of glass cafish, a single pictus catfish with some larger tankmates. if you have deep pockets, the synodotus(sp?) cats make great pets, but even the feather fin syn. isnt very expensive. may i ask how experienced with fish you are?

55 gallon tank.. I’m not an expert at fish keeping but I am looking to expand my knowledge in it. I love researching individual fish but I’m not good at knowing fish combinations other than if it’s aggressive, semi or community (and coldwater/warmwater too). As for fish keeping itself I’ve mostly owned goldfish and betta fish, I’ve also had tiger barbs, chinese algae eaters and platies. Years ago I was dumb enough to get iridescent sharks and of course I had to give those away, heh. Currently I have an 8 inch comet goldfish recently transferred to a 55 gallon along with some smaller common goldfish that I’m actually looking to rehome (the common ones only xD) and a crowntail betta in a filtered/heated 5 gallon aquarium. If you want to know my age I’m 17 and living with my family still, even though I’m young I’d still love to gain more experience in fish hobbying xD

55 gallon tank.. Oh and I’ll be honest, I have the 8 inch comet and nine 2-3 inch common goldfish in one tank. I’m not exactly positive if that would be considered overstocked or not, I’m thinking it is a bit. I mean they all look happy and healthy and they’re very active (my big one is feeling better, I think it was the new tank anxiety). Either way I’m still looking to rehome some of the little ones. All except the comet are carnival fish and have been alive for a long time, darn games are so addicting xD.

55 gallon tank.. i dont know much about goldfish, so i cant really help you there. all of the fish you mentioned should be within your capabilities, some such as the bichir, ropefish, and eel have more difficult but not complex feeding requirements. they need meatier fish based foods, such as silversides, earthworms, chopped fish, and mussles, shimp, etc....

55 gallon tank.. I should xD. My goldfish tank is pretty new (the tank itself not the goldfish). I was just curious what I could put in a 55 gallon after my goldfish pass. So, I’ll go do that when I get the chance.

55 gallon tank.. Here’s a picture of the entire tank:
Here’s the best picture I could get out of my big one:
I also have a video of one of my crayfish eating a dead goldfish. Later on in the video my big crayfish decided to steal the goldfish from him (my live goldfish blocking it out a bit but you can still kinda see). Let’s see if this works:
