Anyone Got an Opinion dragon fish/Violet Goby

Well Im going to get fish, I really want a violet goby though most definatly. Anyone got an opinion on this fish? Im worried about feeding most of all...Will they swim to the top to eat or will they only search the bottom? I dont want to get one if Im not going to be successful with it.

i wouldnt recomend it. they get big(ish) need brackish water and need very small live foods such as brine shrimp.

I do know they get big and have heard that they ’can’ live in fresh its just not natural and cuts down there life span by a couple of years, but feeding wise, I had seen them eat algae waffers and blood worms, that would be my plan for feeding. I definatly have time to devote to this animal, no dought about that just more worried about the feeding of an animal that has trouble finding its food in the first place lol

ok heres a pretty dumb question lol I almost answer my own question when I ask it but can you keep fresh water fish in brakish water thats enough to support a violet goby?

Well I just went to the pet shop and purchased two sharks, a balla and go figure, I cant remember what the other one was called, the name is long. Heres some pictures of the set up and fish. My betta is in there too very happily. I had asked if it was possible to keep fresh waster fish in brakish water and she said yes, they acually every single one of there tanks acually are brakish. It just all depends on the tolerance of the fish I guess. But to the point I did not get a violet goby/dragon fish/dragon goby...maybe another day. Now Im on a six week wait until I can get some more fishys lol

please rembember, im not trying to be rude, i just see many mistakes. first of all, the fish you cant remember is an irridescent shark(actualy a large catfish) the problem with this is eventual size. look at some of the pics on this site. http://www.aqualandpetsplus. com/Catfish,%20Pangassius.htm
take out the space. bala sharks also get large, and need to school. it is recomended to have 55gal per fish. the plant is really called dracena, and is actualy a non aquatic plant. please do more research before you buy, as pet stores are frequently wrong.

Yes, I know that both sharks get large, in due time. I have done my research and would have gotten more ballas so he can school but more then two fish at this moment would kill them since the tank was just set up. The plant on the other hand was thriving in water when I bought it and still is living, sorry i mis spelled the name earlier, its called white ribbon, i was close. Im not trying to sound rude either but it almost seems that every time I put something up on this site someone comes in and kicks me down. I realized what I was doing when I bought the two sharks and I know I need more ballas but I dont want to risk killing them by putting new fish in until six weeks.

people arnt trying to be rude, its just that you ivested in some very high maintnance animals and most people do not have the facilities to care for a 2.5-3ft long catfish and a school of 14in fast moving fish. for the balas alone i would say no less than a 200gal tank to facilitate their large size, schooling nature, and need for tank space. the catfish will need a 180 gal to facilitate its full size, so in all, you will need a tank of almost 400 gallons just for what you already have. it isnt fair to the fish if you cant provide their basic needs, and this seriously irks a lot of people. i am not attacking you, im explaining why you are being treated this way.

I know it, Its just i know what I got myself into, no worries, I have a decent job and when the time comes that these fish out grow there tank Ill of course get a larger one for them. I think it would be just great and amazing to have a collection of just down right huge fish lol I also have entirely too much time to commit to these fish. Although Iv never seen one fish clean up 90 % of the food. That iridescent shark just cleans up everything and hes FAST. Its comical to watch as long as everyone else gets a fair share of food, but wow thats just insane how much food he takes in. I think the biggest reason I got the sharks is because the size theyll reach. For some reason i love big animals. Its almost like a challenge and the bigger they get the more I just seem to fall in love with them. I was actually going to get an iguana but changed my mind lol now im going to have monster fish lol Im sorry I snapped in my last message, bad day and Iv been told by SO many people that, ’those fish are going to get huge you know’ lol I apologize again.

I would like to one day have a down right HUGE tank like that. Well its been a few days or so and the fish are doing great so far. Everyone is getting along and the two sharks are quiet close to each other a lot of the time with no tail nips or anything, they’ve kinda become friends I guess ^-^ Although the betta has protected what he sees as his territory, no biggys though.
