What size aquarium do you have? Some other good fish would be Jack dempseys,Convicts,Firemouths,Tinfoil barbs, black sharks, pacus, etc.

P.S. You better have at least 150gallons if you get a pacu! They are a really neat fish to have.

Those are not good fish to put with oscars, the oscar will most likely at some point eat the blue lobster and the shark. A Jack has a very good chance of turning the oscar into shredded fish. Paku are ok, but get around 39" long, convicts will pick on it or be eaten, firemout maxes around 4 or 5 inches the oscar will eat that too, black sharks also become food. Oscars go well with raphael catfish, plecos, and sometimes large cats not channel cats as those will kill anything if given the chance.

I dont know if you are talking about my post or not but I never said blue lobster. My oscar is with a jack dempsey, 2 convicts,a firemouth, and two pleco’s.I also have a cousin that has a black shark with his oscars.Black sharks get big,my cousins shark is about 12inches and still growing,I think they can get to around 20 inches.

oh cobra 82, ya it was me who said i had a blue lobster in the begginning of my posts. but N2t you are tottally wrong abou tmy oscar eating the lobster. theyve been together for about a year now and have never had a probalem. theres a log that the lobster hides in once in a while when hes shedding. and the shark is really healthy and the oscar never even notices him. and no i dont think i will be getting a pacu, they just get too big for me. i have a hard enough time trying to transfer my oscars ( when im moving the tank or upgrading into a bigger one) i had a convict but it got too aggressive with y smaller oscar so i sent it to the pet store.

What can go with an oscar?

Definately a tinfoil barb (as mentioned before) as long as it’s around the same size as the oscar.

I’m not "totaly wrong" lol when the oscar gets big enough that is exactly the type of thing they would consider food, you may get lucky, but oscars are pretty voracious, and mine ended up eating quite few cage mates after the fifth year or so I had him. sharks, other cichlids, plecos, eels, piranah, catfish etc etc, I didn’t know any better then, I do now, they can be quite hungry little guys.

What can go with an oscar?

I was recently thinking of adding an oscar to my tank, but decided not to because I’ve read on several different websites that not only will they eat what can fit in their mouth, but that they will eat anything that is not similar in size. You may luck out since you’ve had all these fish since they were small... that happened with me with my red devil and my convict.

I have a 13" monster of a red devil right now. And until yesterday I had a 4-5" convict. Unfortunately either my convict choked on a guppie or she died of old age. :-( I’d had her for 7 years. But she and the Red Devil followed eachother around the tank (180 gallons) all the time.

Anyway, anything that you do get, try to make it something aggresive and that will get the same size as an oscar. Red Devils are awesome fish, and mine is bright orange. When I have company they just get enthralled with him!

Good luck!

BTW, Gunslinger... you aren’t the Gunslinger from KP are you???

Bobd66...Not knowing what KP is,I’d say probably not.I got the name when I was a member for the Angels Camp Boosters years ago.We would officiate the Calaveras County Frog Jump Jubilee that’s been going on over a 100 years. We would go into town on week ends stop the traffic, have a few nice words to say to each other, draw our pistols and and when the smoke cleared, the 100’s of spectators would be in awe.Have a good day,Gunslinger

ya python21 is right any semiaggresive fish that is around 5 inches. Oscars are not that aggressive its just that they need very big tanks and they grow up to 16 inches. If you have room for it you might want to get an arrowana or a green terror.

Oscars are very aggestive fish. They mainly good with themselves and thats really about it. Sometimes other things, but keep the fish around the same size.
