Salwater Tank -starter
an undergravel filter i am prety sire that it only works in gravel although i just got 2 undergravel filters so i am not so sure about it. undergravel filters are the best or so i have heard.
as for the cycling that is easy to answer(I have never had a saltwater aquarium before so im not sure how to do it in saltwater but i will tell you how
to do it in a freshwater)
cycling means geting the nitrogen cycle going in your tank which is very easy all you have to do is let your tank sit for like a month or so . I usualy put a bit of fish food in for good luck but i have always started my tanks with water from the creek in my back yard, but dont do what I do because I dont reely know what is best for my fish too well
your post is not too long mine is sorry

Saltwater Tank -starter Do you only plan on having fish? or do you want coral? UGF’s are a good filter to start with if you only plan to have a fish only tank. I would recommend using a protein skimmer and live rock to filter a tank that size. An awesome skimmer to get is a Aqua C Remora hang on skimmer with a Maxi jet pump, I love mine and it does an awesome job. Cycling, some say to use LR to cycle, I used about 7 or 8 Blue Damsels. Wait about a week and do a 25% water change then let sit for two weeks then another water change then two more weeks then, well, you guessed it another and so on until all your levels are perfect. It sounds like you did your home work so I think you’ll be fine.

Saltwater Tank -starter Thanks for the help. I just found out that ill be getting the 24 gallon jbj nano cube. I do plan on getting fish, but im not sure what kind yet. Will 15 lbs LR nad 20 lbs LS be good enough? Also what is a refuge and would i need one? The man at the fish store said with a nano cube i wouldnt need a protein skimmer .is he yanking my chain? Any other info is welcomed.Im excited for this hobby!

Saltwater Tank -starter Nano’s are cool little systems, Your 15 lbs of LR and 20 lbs of LS should be a good start. You shouldn’t need a skimmer, just do weekly water changes and watch all your levels and temp. The prob. with a smaller tank is they tend to heat up faster than bigger tanks. I would remove the sponge filter media from the back and maybe use small LR rubble, the sponge media is a great nitrate farm, just my opinion.

Saltwater Tank -starter Thanks, The Clown does chase around the smaller guys, kinda funny really, but does no harm. I just got some new coral, I’m kinda excited about them. I’ll post pics later tonight. Oh yeah smart move losing the eel, cool to watch but will prob get HUGE.
