 Growth rate??

I have an aussie frilled dragon and I recently heard that they grow way slower than a NG frilled. Is this true? She is 10 months old and is 16 inches from tip to tail. She is very slow growing... her tail is way longer than her body. She eats plenty and sheds quite regularly, but grow slow compared to my beardie... how long till they are full grown??

This is Nefretiti...

Hello, I have 4 Aussies and they all grow faster then NG’s. What size cage do you have it in? For the size of the Aussie I would say you have a female, if you have it in a good size cage. My female Aussie is 9 months old and is 17 inches. My male Aussie is also 9 months old and is about 20 inches. Females will grow for about a year, then they will quit for awhile and start back up. It takes about 3 years to have a full grown female. When they do grow, they grow fast. Where did you get your Aussie? I’m looking for a couple more. Please email me at renaeski@ hot mail.com, except all one word.

I got her from a breeder out of Calgary Alberta (Canada)... she’s in a 55 gallon tank right now, we were told she could stay there till she was about 2... She was born in July so that makes her about 9 months I’d say... she was tiny when we got her in the beginning of October... maybe 6-8 inches. This was the first batch of Aussies he had so we got a good deal. He wanted to see how they’d sell here. He said he wouldn’t have anymore till this summer. Shes 16 inches now, so I guess she’s grown, however... it seems to be alot of tail and she just grows slow compared to the other lizards we have.

She needs to be in a tall cage. The ideal cage for a single Aussie is 4’T x 2’D x 4’W. If you have a male you probably want it a little taller. All Aussies grow differently too. They tend to slow down in the winter and grow faster in the summer. I have a female Aussie that will be 2 in July, she is only 18 inches. She is just now starting to grow again.

yes, I live about three hours away from Calgary. We just got our first reptile store about four months ago. I can also see if she knows where we can find an aussie for you.
