 Eating habbits

I just got my frilled recently and he doesn’t seem to be pigging out like I heard they usually do. I’ve got a fecal exam done and everything is good. I have a big enclosure for him with a basking spot at 100F. I have been putting food in and leaving it in there for him. He doesn’t seem to be interested in the food even if I put the dish nfront of him. I’ve been misting daily and he seems to like that most of the time. I still can’t handle him though. Any suggestions????

I had to do a few things to get my frilled to eat. Initially, he wouldn’t eat if the food was loose. Then when I put it in a bowl, he showed more interest. He still wouldn’t come down off the branches to eat, so I got a parrot food dish and attached it to the branches. He eats out of it without a problem. I have even seen him attack food that got out and loose on the floor.

this is interesting/?????? my frilly has a small dish thats 5’’ wide/3’’deep/and 5’’ long/he for some reason likes to eat off the bottom of the cage/and most of the time he won’t eat untill no one is looking ////in fact at first I couldn’t get him to eat at all///so what I did was put a blanket over the whole cage to give him total isolation/and I did this for most of the day /and then started taking the blanket off and exposing him to the outside world little bits at a time/so it might be a simple stress problem or your frilly might just be shy and not like to be seen eating/so you might try total isolation and see if it’s a stress related problem//also what exactly are you feeding your frilly/mine loves things that move like mice or lizards :however he started out on mealworms ///thank God now he eats just about everything I give him and sometimes even eats from my hand ///but thats only if he hasn’t pigged out prior to me hand feeding him/heres my list of food choices ///crickets mealworms pinkies small lizards //baby beardies are the natural diet but they get expensive so to replace the nutritious value I’ve added lace wing bugs to the diet my frilly loves butterflies and moths //and they are a great sorce of protein be sure of a couple things frillies need to get a sufficiant amont of vitamin D and K /this comes from two things /the sun or full spectrum lighting /and calcium dusting//hope this helps it just a couple things that I had to do believe me at first I was scared I’ld have to force feed /but thanks to the total isolation trick things worked out really great /and now days my frilly is confident enough to eat just about anything he can get his mouth around/including a crawfish(but i wouldn’t recomend it)hope thyis info helps! Chip!
