Finally got pics of my frilled.
He is an Australian and about a year old now, little small for his age due to having to keep his cage on the floor for the first 5 or so months i had him. Got him off the ground at my new place and he is growing like a freak. The pictures do not do this animal justice, and i couldnt get him to actually frill today
Got him a little excited here.
Just showing his color, its very strong reds and oranges mixed with some black and white flecks, very stunning.
Can see the orange streak under his eye in this photo.
His father and mother were both very large, father close to 3 feet and mother was very large. He’s gettign there

Visual differences from Australian to New Guinea frilleds is something that can be tough for people to spot. Queensland locals are often called Silvers, they are a dark animal with a strong gray to silver wash over then, and the light areas on their pattern/frill are a cool silver color. Northern Territory animals are larger overall, have good coloration on the frill and exhibit mainly khaki and tan colors. Australians will usually have the classic white cheek spot and a more subtly difference is their head is more "angular" than NG. Thats a tough aspect to explain but NG’s heads are just slightly rounder in appearance. I’ll try to get a classic frill shot of him for you guys today if i can, just my iphone takes terrible pics so i rather use a camera. |
