here you go !when I first got my frilly he wouldn’t eat unless it was dark or cage was totally issolated/I actually had to put a blanket over the cage and then he would eat///also it takes a few days for a frilly to get used to it,s new invironment/so try to give your lizard some enclosure and time to itself!if after a week he doesn’t eat then i would sugest force feeding but try these things first!oh yeah mine lived on superworms for the first few months and now he will eat anything he can get in his mouth its great!also put a dish out that the worms can’t get out of but your lizard can get in and lets see what happens! hope this helps CHIP!P.S.also make sure you have propper heating if it’s to cool your lizard will not eat!

The only thing that was probably suppressing the appetite of your little guy was the stress from a new environment. Usually it will take a few days for a frilled to get adjusted to a new area and start normal behavior again. I just moved and it took about 3 days before my frilled got comfortable enough to eat and not feel stressed out. Expect it any time your do a total change of surroundings and realize more than just the cage are involved in this behavior.

The breeder probably got confused with Chinese Water dragons. China is way to cold and far north to support a population of Frilled Dragons. They exist in Australia and on a few islands north of Australia, notably New Guinea and a few smaller populations.

On a side note, genetics have nothing to do with birth place and what you want to call something. There is a reason scientific names are used to describe a species and common names are not. All frilled dragons are one species, their locality is what is important to some breeders as it refers to the possibly of the genes the animal may carry and how that can affect the offspring genetically and most importantly, phenotypically. For your frilled to be "American" it would need to be caught in America in a population that can sustain it self with no outside influence.
