The breeder probably got confused with Chinese Water dragons. China is way to cold and far north to support a population of Frilled Dragons. They exist in Australia and on a few islands north of Australia, notably New Guinea and a few smaller populations. On a side note, genetics have nothing to do with birth place and what you want to call something. There is a reason scientific names are used to describe a species and common names are not. All frilled dragons are one species, their locality is what is important to some breeders as it refers to the possibly of the genes the animal may carry and how that can affect the offspring genetically and most importantly, phenotypically. For your frilled to be "American" it would need to be caught in America in a population that can sustain it self with no outside influence. |
