So when I first got my frilly I did my research and relized they were very very silmilar to beardies in food and climate. And I know that my beardies as babies hated eating greens. They would occasionally eat A peice then they were done. Does this hold true for frillys too? Does anyone have an adult frilly that eats greens on a daily basis. I still offer Geronimo greens everyday. Also if they dont eat them all the time do you guys dust your crickets? The dust seems to come off if he doesn’t eat them right away.

Most frills won’t eat greens at all. They are picky that way, if it doesn’t move they won’t eat it.

surprisingly when mine was young she would occasionally take a chomp at some lettice, then she would only eat berries. Now she will not touch any vegitable or plant matter.

I’m sure he’ll learn to eat them. And what about dusting crickets, how do you guys gove most of the vitamins and calcium to your dragons?

And... how well does this method work. I guess I should give a little more backround and not assume my other posts were read. He was a rescue and he would not eat when I first got him. He just started eating kind of regularly. So even if I put crickets in his cage there is a chance he wont eat them till all of the nutrients have come off. Also that the person I rescued him from did not give him any supplements and did not have the right uv light. So right now I am pretty worried about getting him vitamins. I’ve tried everything. I’m just a worried parent

You know actually I was thinking that would be the only way. When the beardies were babies we had to take all the cage hides and stuff out so the crickets wouldnt hide... And I thought I was gonna have to do that with the frilly cuz he has this cool log with all these holes in it and the crickets dont come out. So maybe I’ll just stick to hand feeding and a few in his cage

u gotta remember too that frilly’s have totally different cage needs than a beardie

beardie= lots of cloor space low humidity
frills lots of height and some floor space, and lots of humidity

It can take some getting used to for your frill but you could spare a large rubbermaid or a 10 gallon tank to feed in and let the feeders roam it and put him in to feed when need be. Or if that does not work you can make a feeding bin and put it in his enclosure and let him take right out of it as he pleases or lastly you can tong feed him.

I really feel like I bond with him when i tong feed him so I think I will do that until I feel like he is 100% back to healthy. Then I’ll have to see what works for him. He gets so shy out of his cage that I’m not sure what I will do.

My frillie will eat just about anything i offer him. He seems to love collar greens, dandelion flowers, bananas, and goes insane for squash! Hes big on berries and mustard greens as well. I pretty much offer him everything i give my beardies and he eats it. As far as live foods, he gets turkestan roaches on a daily basis, crickets once in a blue moon, silkworms as long as they are in stock, hornworms monthly, phoenix worms for variety, supers as a treat a couple times a week, and a pinky mouse once a month or every 2 months. If i dont offer phoenix worms i just put the insects in a little baggy with the calcium and shake the bag and pour them into a separate feeding bin or i just hand feed. If i offer the phoenix worms i dont bother dusting because they are so high in calcium they replace the calcium powder

I read somewhere that superworms are good for frills. I bought some for my frilly and now he wont eat his crickets. I dust the superworms with calcium and vitamins and he eats them all up. Any one else feed there frill superworms?

I feed my frillie superworms but not on a daily basis. I give him a couple every week (somewhere between 5-10 a week). I know beardies can get addicted to superworms if fed often but I’m not sure if it holds true for frillies as well but that may be the case with yours.
