Upset n awnry ive had zeek for several months now, ive tried everything to tame him. ive taken it very slow, minimal contact. to this dya he is even more skiddish and less affectionat than ever b4. i started off hand feeding. then after 2 weeks of thaat i would gently touch him. 2 weeks of that i would try to pick him up withno success, so id back off. the dya where id hold him he wouldnt eat the next. im getting frustrated at my failure to make him even reasonably friendly. again today we are at the no eating phase because yesterday i tried to touch im after 2 weeks of no contact.
anyone have an ides. or is he going to forever be like this

Upset n awnry well it sounds like your allready doing everything you can ///the only trick I know is by hand feeding ////you should get some flare pics if you can that would be cool /but I know it’s a pain in the butt to stress poor lizard ///chances are you may not be able to tame your lizard ever I was fortunate to have a lovable lizard but sometimes even Tatsu gets a little naughty and acts up! anyway good luck Chip!!

Upset n awnry Sometimes if you hand feed them, that’s what the frill depends on. Then he/she won’t eat any other way. I have a dragon like that.

Upset n awnry I would not really worry about holding or petting your frilly right now. The trust and bond is built over time just keep feeding and dont really worry about holding it. Honestly i dont hold mine very often when i am feeding my collection they will actually jump down off there tree’s and sit infront of the windows begging. If i open there cage they will raise up on there hindlegs to get the roaches just like a dog when they raise up you can pet them on there bellies. For you i would try this be real slow with your movements at first or you just might be bitten.
But dont worry most will somewhat tame down some just dont get as tame as others. either way you have a great showpiece.

Upset n awnry Also some animals just dont tolerate anything in their cage. I know many handlers and owners that have to use gloves to get larger lizards out of their cage. Once their out they are completely different. The frill that I just got a month ago has turned on me and hates anything near his cage. As soon as I force him out he is a doll. And I know that forcing a frill can stress him out but he gets over it pretty quickly and loves hanging out on my shoulder. And trust me, this frill was a mess when I got him, the definition of stressed. So I know it sucks but grab a glove and see if you can get him out to bond with him. Just dont chase him around his cage to much. 30 sec. to a minute and if you haven’t got him leave him alone. If your not comfortable with that, what your doing is perfect. Just takes time. How big is your frilly?

Upset n awnry she is about 10 inches nose to vent. ve been going really slow wih her until thursday. i took her out, put leash on her and went out with her. for the first little bit she was really stressed. but afer i held her and petter her she calmed down. ive been taking her out 2x a day for a few minutes. and she seems to beoing alot better. she is much lighter in color and not freaking out when i pet her. she still flares if i move quick. but its working. i had to take the same approach with one of my beardies. now he is an absoulte sweetie

Upset n awnry Good I’m glad you’ve been able to get him out. I think they do much better once they realize your not trying to take their cage over or something. It’s all up hill from here unless you change the cage again. It seems they will start the attitude right back up if you switch there cage.

Upset n awnry What i used with my frilled dragon was when i got him i covered all the sides of his tank with newspaper so he couldnt see my other reptiles. Theni put his tank up eye level with me so he felt more secure up high and also i kept my room quiet so he could adjust and every other day id take off 1 side of newspaper and every time i walked by him i would gently speak to him. I would hand feed him silkworms and baby hornworms. Then wen it came time to soak him i put my hand in the tub with him so he could sit on my hand in the water to let him know i wasnt going to hurt him or let anything bad happen. Whenever i wanted to spend time with him i would always aproach slowly in the tank from the front or side and scoop him up and then i would lay in the empty bath tub and let him climb on me or i would just hold him. Eventually (roughly 5 months later) he calmed down to be as tame as my beardies. I even take him out to the park with me and i keep him on a harness and he behaves very well
