 Shedding

So I took my brothers Frill from him last month because he was having problems taking care of it. Well it looked as though my brother never soaked him and he was having problems shedding. Probably also because he had no humidity either. But now this little guy has shed on his thighs that just wont come off. I’ve tried raising his humidity to soaking him everyday and rubbing the spot but I just can not get it off. I was hoping that when I got him gaining weight that he would shed again and it would just come off but he hasn’t even shed yet. He’s steadily gaining weight. Should I just wait a little longer for him to have a regular shed and see if it comes off? Or does anyone have any secret methods?

Try giving him a bath and put a few drops of mineral oil or olive oil in the water then after you get him out and dried off rub some oil on the spot where the shed is.....It may take a few days of this to loosen the shed..oh and don’t worry if he drinks some of the water it won’t hurt him..........

it could take months to correct poor conditions. it took me once 6 months on a water dragon to release old stuck shed. just proved a huge area for the guy to bathe in. dont give him many baths thats stressful. if you see poop in the water you know he’s using it.

be patient soon the shed will come off.

I spoke too soon. I went into Geronimo’s cage and took him out for a bit of sun and I saw a break in the shed. So I put him in some warm water and he just started shedding all over the place. It makes me happy that he is finally shedding. Means he’s growing. Now I can really spend some time with my new leopard gecko rescue. Another sick one. Some people should never have animals. But I guess then I wouldn’t be able to enjoy saving them and getting them heathy and thriving again. Makes my day

Oh Man I totally agree with you on that subject...almost all my reptiles I have are rescues....I currently have 5 gr. iggys (2 are rescues) 1 red iggy who was a rescue...2 Mountain horned dragons both rescues...2 Aussie water dragons who were rescues from a friend who had rescued them and she sent them to me...8 Chinese water dragons they were all rescues from the pet store..

I don’t have a frill yet...but will be getting one real soon..eggs are in the incubator..can’t wait to get my frill they are soooo neat..

You’ll have to post some pictures of your frilly.....

This is one of the photos I took when he finally got his appetite back. He’s gotten much fatter since this photo and bulkier. But its a cute one with repticzone green in the backround. I’ve had alot of reptiles but this little guy stole my heart. He’s my little cling-on. He’s even cute when he’s mad. Any reptile owner would love these guys.
