 Past away.. anyone know why?

I bought an adult female frilled and had her for about two years. She went everywhere with me. I showed her off to everyone. And i spoiled her. i fed her well and gave her plenty of vitamins and she even got sunlight. but when i bought her a few toes were stiff-like. Over time this grew to her knees, elbows, and hip. She had her good and bad days so it was hard to put her down. But i did and i want to know what id did wrong. Some people say lack of vitamins but all my reptiles get plenty so i dont think htats the cause. Any suggestions?

With the vitamins did you include calcium? Metabolic Bone Disease will make joints and limbs stiff. Did she ever get shaky when she stood? I’m sorry for your loss

No she was never shaky or anything. Calcium was the main vitamin. I had a bottle of powder vitamins that i would sprinkle on her food that had most of them. And the crickets she ate were vitamin packed. Could she have already contracted MBD from her previous owners care? OR is it reversible?

I’m sorry for your loss..it’s hard to lose an animal.....

She could have had a over load of calcium and vitamins...Too much is as dangerous as not enough...I know we can’t turn back the hands of time...(wish we could sometimes) but I do have a few questions to ask you if you don’t mind...If you don’t want to talk about it I understand.....

Was it just the one leg that was stiff? Was it swollen at all? and what was her daily diet?

Like I said you don’t have to answer..I know it’s very painful to lose a pet...Again I’m sorry for your loss....

Annie....>^..^<

The stiffness began in her long toe on one foot. Ive had a number of lizards and just thought it might have been broken. Through time the rest of her toes turned stiff and useless. Then her knees and front fingers started at about the same time i think. It spread to the rest of her joints. They weren’t swollen or painful.

She ate freeze dried crickets that were stuffed with vitamins and nutrients and meal worms. every once in a while id sprinkle a little powder on them, but once a month at the most because she didn’t like the taste. Each time id go to the pet store (when her can of crickets ere empty) id buy a dozen or two crickets and powder them. I could never get her to eat fruits or vegetables, but i tried.

The woman i bought her from said she was full grown, that she wouldn’t get any bigger, but also didn’t know her age. I think she said she had her for two years. i had her for another two. I have no idea if she was full grown when the woman purchased her.

oh and no i did not bring her to the vet. i know everyone gets all mad and defensive about people not wanting to drive hours away or spend their money.. but i was 17. i didnt drive. i didnt make a lot of money. and the only vet i have found in my area that will treat reptiles is a specialist whos prices are way more than i can afford. most are in bigger cities and the only big one near me is an hour and a half away.

Not Really, i mean ive looked at a lot of pics on the forum and she looked just like them. She ate well. She had a little fat roll on her tail and her back legs were fat before they went stiff.

It was like how a person looses the use of their legs then they shrivel. But i KNOW there was no physical abuse or injury. She was a queen.

im sure she had something happen to her. something like gout or some problem like that... maybe an infection of some sort.

i am sorry to hear about your loss. make sure you spray a bleach solution in the enclosure and clean and soak things

one cap full of bleach to every gallon of water. spray down and let it air dry (dont wipe down) this is 99.9% effective

i gave you my contact info. i’ll also send you a pm. give me a call and we’ll talk!
