 My frill hurt his toe

The other day i was watching my frill and i noticed he did not have his front i guess pinkie toe on the ground. So i picked him up and looked at and it looked kinda ripped open. I got a napkin to see if it was bloody, but he wasn’t bleeding. He seems better though. I was just wondering if any one out there has noticed this before. Or knows what causes it. Sorry i couldn’t get photo`s.

He could have got it caught on something in his viv.. really it’s just hard to say....Just keep it clean and put some triple antibiotic ointment on it..and just keep an eye on it...

it can happen way to easily. i wouldnt worry to much just make sure his enclosure is cleaned and clean the area nice and good and keep antibiotic ointment on it. worst case is you can go to the vet and ask for the blue stuff!!! that stuff works great and kills bacteria for 24 hours on the skin surface. its in cream form or liquid form you dilute in water. i forget what its called but its "chlor" something or other.

GREAT STUFF, extremely mild topical antibiotic and antibacterial.

No, what 87rx7chick is talking about is Nolvasan, "Chlorhexidine" you need to get that a your vets..but you can order it on online and pay a lot more....but really Neosporin works just as good..you can get that Walmart or Target..

What are your temps & humidity levels? Has he been eating? and if so whats his diet?

my vet gave me both. chlorhexidine is the blue stuff you dilute in water. nolvasan, isnt that the blue cream?

either way both are great to have around the house especially if you house more then one dragon with eachother!

my vet gave it to me for free, so idk how much it caust. seems if you bring in 3 dragons and pay 45$ each they tend to give stuff to you for free haha... =X

Chlorhexidine is a chemical antiseptic.

Common brand names are ChlorhexiDerm Flush made by DVM Pharmaceuticals which has Chlorhexidine Gluconate 2% and Nolvasan Ointment made by Fort Dodge has 1% Chlorhexidine acetate and also which contains 10% stearyl alcohol....They both work very well.....The Flush works very good on mouth rot...

Thanks you all for all the help your giving me. I’m going to bring him to a vet. I think he broke his pinkie toe on the top of his cage. He was climbing on the lid. Sorry again i would post pics but the camera is not working. I was feeding him crickets at first then the crickets would be faster then him and run away so he just started ignoring them. So i tried super worms. This employee at pet smart said that they were good for reptiles. My lizard ate them like crazy. i tried feeding him crickets and worms but he would just eat worms, now he stopped eating worms and wants crickets.

a vet visit is a good thing. make sure you write down those 2 names of the recommended antiseptic.

its common for reptiles to be picky about food.

i dont like super worms as much because they are high in fat. bearded dragons are ok cuz they naturally have high body fat but frills are slimmer and more slender and easily u can fatten one up if not carefully. just like water dragons!

no one likes a fat lizard :)

try hand feeding. ur frill may freak out at first but once it realizes what you have in your hand he should eat it.
make sure your dusting your crickets with calcium. and if your not gut loading your crickets also dust them with a vitamin powder ratio 2:1. 2 parts calcium to one part vitamin powder. or every 2nd feeding use vitamin powder and use calcium more. 2:1 ratio !!

yay!!!

btw. leaving crickets in the enclosure over night will cause phobia of crickets since the crickets will bite, climb on and interrupt your frills sleep

hope my info is of some help!

well. frills have gray patterns on top of white. when a frill is really stressed the whole body will be really dark and gray. when the frill is happy the white will show threw the gray.
heres normal gray heads up and alart = no sign of stress

normal gray head up and alart no stress

heres normal white (woke him up from sleeping so his head is low)this is the big guy from the first picture compare colors!

here is normal gray but the frill is showing slight stress (head low)

here is the darkest i’ve seen a stressed frill notice the head is low her eyes look dull and not full of life. this is a sick frill
