well first thing to ask yourself. is he eating well? is he hydrated well? is he easily stressed out resulting in not eating for a few days? have you ever had an issue with him not eating for more then a week?

if all the answers are yes he is eating well. yes hydrated. no stressing resulting in not eating. and hasnt ever went a whole week with out wanting to eat..... then you can just pick him up daily and work with him.

just scoop him up!!!!

2 of my frills dont like me yet... but one, the female. she usto not like me too. but one day something in her head clicked. and i saw it click.... i took her out. and took her away from her enclosure. usualy if they see there home they want to try to get back into it and struggle.

so i brang her away. and after she struggled for a bit i opend my hand. she looked up at me and frilled and stopped and just looked... i talked softly to her and she just relaxed from that point on.

now she doesnt run away from me. she will easily be scooped into my hand. and nicely walk off my hand when i return her to her home.

sometimes i just pet her on her chin to remind her i wont hurt her..

you can , for 2-3 weeks. only put your hand in to pet his chin. i mean NEVER EVER try to pick him up for 2-3 weeks. once he doenst run away from your hand. (cuz if he always thinks your there to pick him up he will freak every time) you can then start moving your hand under himand holding him while in his enclosure for a few weeks. then you can actualy take him out. then finaly really start working with him....

that is if he stops eating from the above method.

your not doing anythingn wrong. you just need to be calm. and work with him daily. they require trust. it takes a while to gain that.

Listen to 87rx7chick she knows her stuff!!!
I’m actually working on taming up Mugen rite now. I bribe him with a hornworm to be a good boy while I pet under his chin. At first he didn’t want anything to do with me but wanted that worm soooo bad!! He would put up with me petting his chin then I would give him hes treat for being good. After a week or so I would just go up to him without a worm and he would let me pet his chin. I’m working on bringing him out of his enclosure but still in the first steps with that. Don’t give up, soon enough he will warm up to you just like Mugen will ^_^

woah 3-4 dozen? you should feed daily or every other day for a growing frill dragon. they usualy eat between 3-12 crickets a day or more at times. but never all at once and then dont feed for a week @_@

i hope you didnt mean that. cuz theres still a risk of dehydration and malnutrition if you dont feed on a regular basis. they arnt snakes :( they have higher metabolism then that.

if you have an issue keeping crickets. buy a 3$ plastic critter container. toss in a carrot every 2-3 days. bag of baby carrots last FOREVER if you keep a paper towel in with them to absorb extra moisture.

Dont feel bad, thats what these forums are for. You learns something new everyday. Just correct it right away and make sure you are also supplementing your crickets. Dusting them before you feed your frilly. Also getting crickets from the pet store can get expensive, you can go online to like CarolinaPetSupply.com and buy a case of crickets. Just dont forget to feed them. Oh and frilly’s are known to be a little skittish, just be slow and gentle. Hold him in an area where if he jumps outa your hand he cant get lost. They calm down alot when out of there cage. Keep working at it, dont get discouraged.

How do i handle my frilie

wonderfull question.. i use a "deli" cup. its a 7 inch tall by 4 inch across clear plastic container . i shake crickets into it and then toss in some calcium powder and 1/2 as much vitimin powder (2:1 ratio) and toss the crickets around in the powder. then i walk up to the frill enclosure and tilt it forward so the frill can reach in and snag crickets to eat.

its a good way to gain trust. but its not a sure fire way to be able to pick him up. just means he wont prob run away when you open the enclosure. and he want freak out every time he sees you... cuz you mean food. just make every single interaction with him, have to do with food. he sees you and then volla he gets food!! no touching no picking up!!!!

keeping crickets:

buy a 24deep x18 across x24 long tub from walmart for about 5$ or less. go to a farm supply/feed supplier or find a place that sells chicken feed. its really corse ground up peices. not as fine as super worm bedding. ... its just chick feed or chicken feed. baby chick feed is medicated, it cuts back on the bacteria that comes from dead crickets and eventually the bad smell. yuck!!!

regular chick feed is the same but doesnt have as good of effect. you use this as your substrate inside your newly bought plastic tub. you use just enough to cover the bottom. while your at the feed store pick up the cheepest dog/cat water bowl you can find. i get mine for 99c. and you can place carrots, potatos and apples inside this dish for moisture. the chick feed will feed and gut load the crickets while the vegi will supply the moisture. i love using baby carrots because if you toss in a paper towel inside the baggy, they will last for 2-3 months if kept right....

oh and you know that blue water crystal stuff they sell at pet stores for crickets to get water from?

http://www.codwholesale.com/Crystal-Accents-CLEAR_p_504.html buy yourself a whole bag of the dehydrated form. then use one table spoon for every.. gosh.. 4 cups of water or more?!?!? and you use that for your crickets instead of vegies...

so recap
buy crickets (mulberryfarm.com , nyworms.com , flukersfarms.com)please google these names if i spelled them wrong

buy a tub (leave the lid off)
buy chick feed (medicated or adult formula)
buy water crystals or carrots (carrots last longer)
buy a bowl.

oh and lastly go to a local bakery and ask for egg crate ;) you get it for free and crickets wont dominate for territory since there is enough room to climb all over the egg crate!!!

any questions :)

edit. carrots last longer then other veggies if stored correctly. i do not recomend eating the carrots if storing for a few months.

water crystals last longer then carrots.

How do i handle my frilie

:) yep

oh and idk if i added.... i had the trust of one of my frills. but when i got my mini wiener dog, i had the frill out and my lil macy girl scared the ever living daylights out of poor casper.. macy started screaming/barking like she was going crazy. frill went crazy jumped off my hands. we put dog outside. and my poor casper was full frill and up on hind legs. he actually bit me that day cuz he ran under the couch and i went in after him and OUCH!!!!!!!

since that day he hasnt been the same. i lost his trust and have been slowly gaining it back. that was 5 months ago!!!
