 What about a water fall?

My son has seen the water falls sold in petshops for reptiles. Would one of these be ok to use in the frill’s enclosure to help keep humidity up, or would a fogger or mister be better?

If you recommend a fogger or a mister, what brand or type works well?

 What about a water fall?

i believe exo-terra makes the run of the mill water falls. now this water fall wont be big enough for the frill dragon to soak and drink from and it may not give you all the humidity you will need but it will help.

i believe they also make water falls with a fogger.

i dont recomend foggers... i have tried them and dont like them because the water condensates on things and causes mold and issues.

a good misting of the whole enclosure, having enough grape wood and cork pieces and nice substrate that holds humidity well will be able to keep your humidity up.

what type of enclosure do you have? a tank with a screen lid? a screen enclosure? what size is it? what type of lighting (including watts) do you have on the tank?

all this goes into play with keeping humidity up.

frills need about 65% but you need to let the humidity drop for 3-4 days untill the enclosure is DRY then re-saturate to avoid mildew, mold, and even crickets laying eggs and having them hatch. thats a night mere!!!

all in all. i would save your money and just buy more grape vine. fake greenary (from a hobby store) and buy a nice pump style mister, even the kind you can buy from home depo for spraying a home. those work great just rince them out good.

idk.. again back to the fogger. i just dont think its as natural as having moisture inside the enclosure and evaporating. besides. ever sit next to an ultra sonic humidifier when your sick? you get coverd in dampness and it goes into your nose... i’d say thats a lil more of a risk for respitory infection.

oh, but if you want a water fall cuz it looks cool... go for it... but just make sure your frill has a big water dish still :)

hope this helps ya make your choice

Ultra sonic humidifier are ok to use if you have them on a timer.....If you run them all day it gets too wet in the viv....I have mine on timers..they come on every 2 hours for 20 mins and off at night.....One of the draw back in using the ultra sonic humidifier is you need to use distilled water..regular tap water will burn them up in no time....I found out the hard way.. burned up two of them....grrrrrrrr...$80.00 in the garbage....

If you really want a water fall..... make one..you can get all you need a Homedepot or Lowes I’m pretty sure have foggers too..

 What about a water fall?

Our frill is still new for us, but he is in a glass tank with a screen top. Currently we are using a tube UVB light, I believe a repti sun, and a basking light. We will be changing it to a MVB when we do a tank switch with our beardie.

Right now humidity levels are staying above 60% with me spraying the tank with a spray bottle. But when winter comes and we start heating the house, it will be much dryer (I live in Central Texas). I’m wanting to get something that I can put on a timer to come on every few hours. With the way our set up is, I’ll either need something I can put in the tank, or something that will mist the tank through the screen top.

I was thinking about the reptile water falls, but there are some really neat household water fountains that I’m sure are much less expensive.

I tried a household fountain and the only problem I had was the poop would get clogged up in the pump if I didn’t get to it in time to clean it out...so what I did is got some soft screen and wrapped the pump with it so it wouldn’t get clogged.....Just thought I’d let you know....
