 Help!!

We need some help,

We’ve always wanted a frill, We did alot of resreach then went and got him. When we brought him home from the pet store we noticed he had a a patch of bad skin, it looked like a really bad shed, but the edges were really yellow. We brought him back and they said it might be fungal so we put athelets foot cream on it(thats what the pet store told us to do). I give him ragular baths, and hes had two full sheds since we bought him home. Thats looking better, but we noticed one of his fingers was swollen. So we brought him to the vet, she said it was broken and only holding on by a little bit of skin. She ended up removing the finger and gave him an anitbiotic in the other hand. The whole arm missing the finger is now swollen, and the hand is bruised. I dont know what to do!! The vet said to bring him back for another atibiotic but i dont want to stress the poor guy out anymore then he alreay is.
Everything in the tank is perfect, hes eating and drinking a ton, and moving around all the time. what should i do????

 Help!!

what type of enclosure are you using. what are your temps?

temps should be no less then 78 in the entire enclosure and more so around 85 with a nice basking spot of 100-120 depending on the size of enclosure. smaller enclosure less hot basking zone.

where did you get this frill from? please tell me you did not buy it at petco? petco does not properly care for their reptiles and they keep their firlled dragons at room temp with out basking spots.

reptiles that are not cared for well can have weak immune systems. once they get an infection it can weaken them more and they’ll have more issues later on in life.

baytril injections are not that great. baytril isnt that great of an antibiotic in reptiles.

check out www.alamocityagama.com, there is a medical section there.
you should also check out www.rubixreptiles.com for proper temps and humidity.

the best thing you can do is to make sure you have the proper temps and humidity for your guy. if he already has a bad infection its going to be a difficult battle. you have to decide if you want to spend the money on more vet visits, or if your little guy may be to sick. with reptiles its always 50/50, its always unknown if they will respond to medication and treatment. with out proper blood work and a good vet(few and far between) its really hard to get a reptile to actually recover from things like infections.

to sum up, if he is eating and drinking keep him happy and hopefully the swelling will go down. try to get injections to take home and do yourself to minimize the stress. that way you dont have to keep bringing him in stressing him out and causing him to be to cool inside the vet office.

 Help!!

probiotics, beni-bac for bird and reptile. amazon.com has a bunch if awesome products on there, i think you’ll spend about 12$

this one time, my 3 year old female, frizzy, scratched her eye ball while i was misting her, she likes to scratch her face while i mist her and shake. well she cut open her eye. after about 2 hours it was pussing and oozing. i immediately rushed her to the vet, he gave her a broad spectrum antibiotic ointment that i used in her eye for 3 days, by day 3 the swelling and smiley had gone away and she seemed 100% normal again. on that 3rd day she laid 2 eggs for me :)

i’ve had a weberi sail fin dragon break a leg. it swelled up SO bad, i put it in a splint and removed climbing branches and left him alone for 3-4 weeks, it healed on its own. the swelling was bad at first but went away over time.

i have had 2 other weberi sail fin that came in from LLL reptile with cricket bite marks on their side that were infected. i used ZYLAFEN Link which is an anti-fungal and has some antibiotic properties. it fixed their nasty wounds on their sides.

i had 3 female ausi water dragons that came in from agama international 4 years ago. they all came in in horrible condition... one had over all systemic infections another had eye infections and was egg bound (solid masses) all of them were in horrible condition. i kept them alive for 3 months but the one who was really sick never really got better, but didnt get worse.

sometimes we can do things for our reptiles, sometimes we cant. sometimes we can spend all the money we have on vet bills but our reptiles dont respond. sometimes they do.

good luck!!!!
