 PAC MAN FROG WONT EAT

Hey, I just bought a pac man frog and he has not eaten for three days, he just hides under the coconut fiber, and sticks his eyes out, im guessing it is stress but how long should it take for him to adapt and act normal?

Thanks,

Luke

Actually, it sounds like he is acting normal, except for the not eating part. What have you been offering him, and how? Some respond better to tongfeeding than they do to having to chase after the food. Especially if you do it when it’s dim in the room.

Most species take a couple of weeks to settle and get eating... Most seem happier after a month in their new home. Moves and transport do stress them terribly...

They can go long periods without food however if young its better to offer food every 2nd day to try and get him to eat as Jack above has suggested....

Try to keep things to a routine like time of day to offer food and water changes etc...this all helps. Lights on timer..

Insure he is warm... Cold frogs won’t eat....

Good luck

I have offered him crickets of different sizes, a pinky mouse, and a nightcrawler, the temperature stays at 80 degrees. If it sounds normal then thats good, i was just woried about him because my first frog started eating as soon as i got him.

Some do settle in right away... others take a bit..

See how he does over the next week... Still offer food...

My Frog ate his first cricket yesturday, i didnt wat to take him out because i didnt want to stress him, so he ate it in his cage, which has cocofiber in it, is it ok to continue to feed him in the his cage or should i take him out now that he is getting settled in?

Cocofiber is one of the safer floorings to swallow. In theory, anything could be fatal. I know of a cat who died of a furball, but I don’t run around stopping cats from cleaning themselves. Most of us who use dishes, tongs, or feeding bins favor substrates with larger pieces, such as sphagnum moss. There are multiple systems that work, and that includes what you’re doing.

With pacman the substrate should be fine....As Jack has stated all can be a potential hazard..

I can tell you that usually the frog will let you know what he likes and makes him happy. Sometimes following his lead is telling you something...

As he ate I would go with it.... He may of been bred on the fibre by the breeder so prefers it...
