 ACFs and Reading

My 2 year old requested (ok, took me hostage and forced me to) that I read a Dora book in front of the frog’s tank. I told my children (2 yr. old boy and 5 yr. old girl) to tell the frogs it was time to read. They did and BamBam (albino male, 5 inches long) came out of hiding and laid on the log. I told my kids he came because he likes stories. I kept reading and BamBam came right up to the glass. My daughter said he must like the story and I told her to tell BamBam to get Pebbles (regular female, 5 inches) which she did and right on cue Pebbles showed up. She crowded her boyfriend and they both stayed till the story was over. My kids loved it! They really thought the frogs came because they wanted to hear the story! And I love that the frogs have calmed down so much that they come out to greet us when we go to their tank.

Hmmm. I have a skink that will come over to the corner of her terrarium and watch TV if there’s something with a lot of color and movement on, but I haven’t tried reading to anyone yet. I used to have a cat that would come running whenever he heard the opening credits of "Babylon Five" starting, but that was only because he knew it meant I wouldn’t be getting out of my chair for a while, so he could sit on me and get petted for the rest of the hour.

I don’t think so. I’ve raised Pebbles since she was a tadpole. She has always been fed at night so during the day they stay in hiding until dusk. But this day, it was early afternoon. I think they just wanted to see what we were doing since my youngest wasn’t banging on the tank. Probably wondering why they were being ignored by their biggest fan.
