It is hard to say with out seeing a pic.
You could google native frogs in New York and see if you can find it.

You should read this completely before keeping the frogs.

I found out where they came from, my Gold Fish pond in my back yard. I am not putting them back in there though, because I REFUSE to because my dogs will just end up killing them. We have five dogs, who will go as far as killing them. Any advice? I have them in my back yard in a tank with a screen. So far they are both alive, when I found them they looked pretty dead!

Do you know any other pond you could take them to? A park with a pond, maybe.
That would be better than, them being put in a tank.

Unfortunately, with having a pond in your yard you are going to keep finding frog/toads. It would be very hard to keep them all. lol

Good luck!

Actually I don’t, none where they will live properly, I live on Long Island, so most of our frgs don’t live very long due to acid rain. If I was to keep them both in the twenty gallon till they were bigger, what the hell do I feed ’em

Well, first of all, you need to find out what type of frog it is. Google frogs in your area. You will need to know that first to care for it properly.

Most frogs eat insects,crickets,spiders,flies,etc.

You will need to set up the tank like what it is use to. Along with water, as we don’t know what type it is, we can’t tell you if you need just a water dish (that needs to be changed daily) or if it needs more water to actually swim in.

It is hard to keep them alive in captivity if you don’t know all about that species, stress from being kept in an enclosure can kill them.
Please, try and figure out what type it is so we can help you.

Acid rain gets a lot of bad press from well-meaning people who care about the environment but would be better off investing their effort into things that actually need to be fixed. The truth is, it’s a naturally-occurring phenomenon in the northeastern Unied States, and the wildlife is designed for it. Pollution is a whole ’nother story, of course, but the two are not one and the same, they just get mixed up a lot by people who say "Oh no! Acid sounds bad! Must be Man’s fault!" Go to an acid bog; you’ll se TONS of frogs living there. Obviously conditions were good enough for the parents of the frogs you found to grow up and breed, and even those were doing fine until the dogs caught them. So it would appear there are other frog populations around. Just take your guys to the nearest swampy area. They’ll know what to do.
If you keep them anyway, the tank needs to be indoors. It’s a small area, and they can’t really find warmer or cooler places in there, so they will be "lucky" to survive more than a week if it stays where it is.

My dad put in a pond in our back yard he said we need to wait a day before putting crap in there and he won’t let me put the frog in there because he said it will eat all the fish! Will they strive in a man made pond with gold fish and snails? I wanna watch this guy grow so I am going to buy Blood worms every week and throw ’em in there if this works out!

The frog has a better chance of living around your pond than it does in a tank.
The frog will not stay in the water all the time, but the water will attract bugs which is what the frogs eats. You will not have to buy food to feed them.

They’re good at finding bugs. There are always enough near the water, especially if there are some plants there to lurk in.
