 GOLDEN MANTELLA FROGS?

is anyone currently working with these?

i am looking to get a group this fall at a reptile show in Oregon.

i am also planning on creating a sort of paludarium style terrarium for them with an empty 20 gallon high tank..

any suggestions or links with good pictures?

also, if there is anyone that is active on Dendroboard, do the older post links work for you? i can never seem to get into them... :(

 GOLDEN MANTELLA FROGS?

Well I work with poison frogs which require same care as Mantellas.

You can probably have 2 in a 20 high.

You should feed them switching off between with flightless fruit flies and Pin head crickets (crickets dusted in calcium sup.)

Have cage background with MUCH high climbing objects and plants.

Should be sprayed down with water 2-3 times a day.

Use sphagnum moss as a substrate (deep enough for buroughing)

Small water bowl (chlorine free, spring water, treated) with coconut husk hut on the water bowl

HANDLE AS LEASE AS POSSIBLE (skin can get rubbed off because its so sinsitive causing rashes wich will lead to death)
and salts and oils in your skin will dry them up.

UVB lighting (12 hour cycle)

Temps between 70-80 degrease in day and 65-70 degrease at night

High humidity

GOOD LUCK with them!

pm me if you have more questions

 GOLDEN MANTELLA FROGS?

thank you for the info.

do you know of anyone off hand that is selling any right now?

do you have pictures of your tanks?

i have had Mantella Betsileo before. a large group of 8 adults. i sold them off to the local Zoo, however, and now i wish i hadn’t.

i have been looking for these guys for a long time without luck but i have some painted mantellas. As im sure other people have told you a plaudarium is not the way to go cause mantellas are not swimmers. Here is a link with a good golden mantella setup:Link good luck

 GOLDEN MANTELLA FROGS?

thank you.. however, as i stated above, i have dealt with mantella’s before. Mantella Betsileo to be exact..

the way i set the tanks up works perfectly for them.... the water portion is not deep enough to house anything except for some duck weed...

i have managed to find one source, however there is a waiting list and they are rather expensive.

i will also be attending a reptile/amphibian show in Oregon this fall, so i might get some diff. ones there....

who knows... i just started this newest tank, and would like to have it up and running for a few months before purchasing anything.....
