Mine and My Husband’s First Frogs. We think they could be sick. Can anyone help?

My husband gave me my first pet frog on my birthday, a european green toad(Jamie). I was so excited, we set up everything just like research had told us to. Everything was great! The toad was happy. Couple days later, I get my husband his toad (Cody), same type. We put them together. Happy toads. They eat mostly crickets w/dusting. (10 per day for both) and some mealworms. Temp is between 80-85 day and 72-80 night. Humidity at 50% day and 70% night after misting. Jungle Bed for bedding, moss, live plants and fake ones, watering hole, and uv lighting on timer with screen top in a 10 gallon tank. We have had them about a month going on two. My toad (Jamie) stared disappearing (completely burying its self) it has lost a little weight and now it sits in a hole with its eyes closed and the other fatter toad (Cody) is almost sitting on top of Jamie, the one with its eyes closed. It sits in its hole all day and hardly moves at all. What is wrong with my toad? This has been going on for a little more than a week. Really worried!!!!!

Hibernation? Getting ready to shed? Just my two thoughts. I don’t own them so I can’t be sure. Maybe someone else who owns that type might know. I know there are some people here and on the toad forum who have them.

Good luck!

then need to be separated in order to find out what is causing the change in behavior..

set each of them up in their own sterilite containers with damp paper towel substrate, a shallow water bowl ( no deeper then the frogs height at rest ) , and some fake vines for them to feel secure.

are they wild caught frogs?

did you quarantine them before introducing them to one another? quarantine should be at least 30 days..

i would recommend taking them to see a qualified herp veterinarian.

also, what have you been feeding them, how often, what do you gutload the food items with?

tell us more bout their enclosure;

temps?
humidity?
misting schdule?
substrate changes?
tank decorations?
plants ( live/fake )?
any obvious aggression?

etc, etc, etc

any thing you can offer up information wise will definitely help us help you.

good luck!
