 HELP! something wrong with my ADF???

my frog is usually at the bottom, hiding or swimming around for food. yesterday, i noticed he was floating at the top. just sitting up there in the corner. so, i checked to see if he was alive and he was, but he almost didnt move when i touched him. this morning he was the same way. i went to touch him and it took him a few seconds to swim away.

this is the first time ive noticed him doing this. usuall, the sight of my hand scares him to death and i cant even get close to him.

he is eating ok...i have him on frog pellets and he normally eats about 10 per day. he does seem to be slowing down his eating though...he hasnt eaten in 2 days.

is he dieing, or just likes the top of the water now???

ok, so i shouldnt worry? hes never done it before and ive had him several months now...

and maybe he just is not scared of me anymore, is why he doesnt freak when i stick my hand in there...lol

yea:) have no worrieS:P they kind of remind me of extremely laid back frogs that practive yoga and budism :P dont no why XD they just space out alot

They may go into the ’zen position’ because of stress issues. However if you have plenty of hiding spots (live and fake plants are great) then you have absolutely nothing to worry about since it is eating well.

I once had a couple of ADFs and I am impressed that you got them to eat dried frog pellets! Mine only ate bloodworms!

its weird, cause since ive had him these few months, hes always hidden under everything, until feeding time. then he runs around and eats.

yeah, he goes for the pellets. i guess he could be eating the extra flakes i put in for the fishies. and probably some of the worms i put in for the gobies. i didnt know if they go for the pellets, though...

lots of hides in there for him. usually he stays at the bottom. maybe he likes me now :D

ADF’s are fun... when my sis was in 2nd grade we used to take "kermit" home for weekends and breaks and i would clean his tank and feed him and stuff... when i first saw him he was itty-bitty but the last time i saw him he was fat and plump :Þ

also, exactly what are the tubeworms? are they the blood worms? always wondered....

well, this morning i woke up to find mr froggie upside down on the bottom! i wonder what happened to him? i also found one of my scissortails in there dead also...

what kills fish, like one at a time, far apart? like i lost a tetra about 6 weeks ago, and the first one i lost about a year ago. and now the frog and anopther fish. they didnt show any signs of distress. weird!!! i dont get it....

i took my tank water in for testing. and i guess thePH was ok, but the amonia was real high. i just cleaned not too long ago. but, thinking since i left it too long from before, i didnt get it cleaned enough .

I’m replying to something very old here but I heard that the pellets can contribute to blockages and bloat. Aren’t frozen (not freeze dried) blood worms the best for them???

The frozen or live foods are best. Opinions will vary by owner. Blood worms, microworms, blackworms, all frozen thawed are fine. A varied diet is best if available. You can colonize aquatic worms fairly easily in a spare tank or bucket.
