Heating I don’t use any heat for my dart frogs, but it stays in the low 70s in my house. when i first got them i put a heat pad under one side of the tank, and it kept the tank warm, but the frogs would go no where near that side of the cage. I would say if you’re going to use one, get a small one (5 gallon size) and make sure you have at least 4 inches of substrate on that side of the tank. You should have 3-4 inches anyway, but specifically on that side. if you are going to use one, keep a separate water source on that side to help keep the humidity up.

Heating I got that one from www.lllreptile.com I got the two new ones coming this week from www.brooklyndartfrogs.com. Check around. LLLreptile is really good. I’ve ordered a few things from them, they’re good. Auratus are easy frogs. good choice. lllreptile has them right now for 20 bucks a peice plus shipping. The good thing with them is you can have a bunch in one cage as long as the cage is big enough - 5 gallons per frog. Azureus tend to be a little more territorial. brooklyndartfrogs.com gives you a free fruit fly culture with every order. I think LLL is in california, so, less stress in shipping. Good luck. Like I said, when I had the heater in there, they didn’t go to that side of the tank, but I don’t know if its because that side was too warm, or because the heat pad dried up all the moisture. I would suggest if a heat pad is needed, you use at least a 20 gallon cage. cover the top of the cage with plastic wrap. great for keeping in moisture. They don’t need ventilation. If you don’t have a source for flies, www.buyfruitflies.com is great. Their medium has all the nutrients and calcium your frogs need, and they are located in CA too. Good luck man.

Heating I wanted red eyed tree frogs as well. They are my wife’s favorite frog, but when I told her I was getting some, she asked if we could get the blue dart frogs instead. Said she’d rather have them than RETF, so I got the darts. Yeah, the ants dart frogs eat is what makes them poisonous. They’re not poisonous at all. One got out and my cat ate it. Didn’t even make her sick. She’s still living.. poor frog... what a way to go.

Heating Newer studies shows that it’s probably the mites in their diet in the wild that help them produce toxins.

Heating start your own thread if you have not already. A 40 watt blub over the tank is fine. You don’t need to heat the water seperately.
