 Amazing frog story

Speaking of the pacific tree frog I had, my mom and I came back from shopping one day and everything was normal......Then all of a sudden she started screaming and paniced. When she called me to come down, she said "THERES A FROG IN THE KITCHEN. I did not believe her until I went and saw it for myself. I could hardly believe it. It was hiding in the package of spinach leaves my mom bought. When I saw the frog it was smaller than I thought about an inch, a PACIFIC TREE FROG. So I took him in and within a few weeks he went from an inch to and inch and 3/4 which is quiet fast for this species. He ate at least twice a day of large crickets.

I had him for at least two years, sadly though he past away of old age. The spinach patch that we found him was taken locally from California, so no surprise if pacific tree frogs hang around veggie fields looking for insects. I still miss him though.......any info about PACIFIC TREE FROGS or any local california amphibians that I don’t know about would be greatly appreciated.

There is a really nice book about Western amphibians (available on Amazon) by Richard Bartlett called "Guide & Reference to the Amphibians of western North America" with accounts of every known species, native and introduced, even including Hawaii, with awesome color pictures of every species... I’m sure there are many other good books on the subject, but this one is one of my favorites... check it out!
Also, you might want to take a look at the Peterson Field Guide to Western Reptiles & Amphibians" by Robert C. Stebbins, another great classic with incredible paintings of every species that look very lifelike, as well as very informative accounts.
