 Tomato Frog questions

Hey guys, haven’t posted here in years. I’ve kept snakes, fish, and now it’s time for frogs. I have a couple questions about tomato frogs.

First, are they known to "call" a lot and how loud is it? Also, what’s the reaction like from the sticky semi-toxic substance they are said to secrete? Anyone experience this, or maybe even have photos?

Thanks a lot, guys! <------{there’s my tomato frog for you guys, LOL}

I dont know much about tomato frogs, but if you scare them, or stress them they will let out this really gross slimey poison from there skin. Sorry im not answering your questions right.

 Tomato Frog questions

Hello,
I haven’t kept tomato frogs yet myself but here is a good care sheet on them that I found, check it out please:
http://www.pet-frog.com/tomato-frog-for-sale.html

Many amphibians have poisonous skin toxins that they use for defense, such as if they are attacked by a predator, but most species like this one are really very docile and would not do it under normal circumstances, so you probably don’t need to worry too much about that, so long as you handle them very gently, only when necessary, and keep their tank covered and out of the reach of any curious dogs, cats, birds, etc.

Well, thanks for the care sheet, but I can’t find anywhere the actual effect of the slime, other than "irritating".
