 Strong stench from new tank with ACFs

My tank smells real bad if you put your nose close to the water and it has only been running for 5 days. The water got real cloudy after the first day also. I bought one of those 55 gallon starter kits from petsmart and I have 2 ACFs and 2 mollys in the tank. All plastic plants and plastic ornaments. I noticed the tank stunk everytime I cleaned it when I had a 20gal but never noticed if it started to stink so quickly. Anyone have suggestions? I am doing a partial water change ATM.

Did the starter kit come with an activated carbon filter because those help remove odor and discoloration?

test your water.. if its off at all, that could make it smelly,, also, it might just be cycling.. everyfish takn iv ever had set up, with or without frogs, has gotten stinky for a week or so everymonth for the first two months, then a couple days a month from then on.. if you have a uv light over it, that can contribute to the porblem, it encourages algea and all sorts of stuff to grow faster than it would otherwise.. try leaving the uv off for a few days, then only having it on for a few hours a day until the problem clears.. worst comes to worse, start over with a HUGE water change and tank scrub
