 Feeding my Firebellies?

A few questions about feeding my firebelly toads...

They’re both about 2 inches long (full grown) and I’ve had them for about 3 weeks now, and I’ve been feeding them once a day. They won’t eat in their tank, so I place them in a large flat bottom bowl that I mist with water. They eat small crickets. I usually put about 3 or 4 crickets per frog in the bowl, and they eat all of them.

I keep water in the cricket "tote", and I feed the crickets a special "cricket diet" along with shaved fruits and vegetables. Every other feeding for the frogs, I dust the crickets with a vitamin supliment.

Both my frogs were kind of thin when I bought them, and they’ve put on quite a bit of weight. When they’re resting with their legs tucked in, their bellies are a little chubby. They don’t look over weight, but I’m concerned that they’ve put on this weight too quickly.

Am I feeding them too often or too much? Am I supplementing them correctly? I want to make sure my guys live a long healthy life, so I just want to make sure that I’m doing everything right.

Suggestions?

You sound pretty thorough! :)

My guys also have little bellies that stick out a bit and I feed mine every second day.

I think they sound pretty healthy-if their behaviour changes, or they seem lethargic or anything, then maybe cut down their food intake. Mine won’t eat if they are not hungry (that’s my interpretation-they tend to leave food behind if I put too many crickets in the tank, then they must be removed) so if your little ones are hungry enough to eat what you are putting in front of them I’d say you’re doing fine!

Enjoy them-they’re some of my favourites, they’re so active and hoppy and nuts!

Yes they are extremely active! And vocal!

Thanks for your help, I feel much better about how i feed them now. I was also concerned too because I hadn’t seen any waste in their tank, so I thought they might be bloated or something. But this morning I found some waste in their pool, thank goodness!
