Oh well... I ended up getting a blotched lizard, a desert creature found in the western U.S. It is about the size of an anole, and just as fast, i’ll get pics soon.

Oh well... Well, he’s still really cool, he ate 4 crickets so far. And he’s only 5 inches long! He’s an eating machine, and the hunting technique is pretty cool to. I am still thinking about getting some frogs, probobly something small, like some reed frogs, i want a tree frog, just a small one that can go in a 5 gal. Any suggestions?

Oh well... If you are in it for the money, you will not make any. The breeders that do make money breed in mass numbers (usually thousands of animals a year) or they create a very unique and expensive morph. Breeding tree frogs or leopard geckos or other small species will not make you money.

Oh well... 5 gal is a bit small dont you think? you can pick up a 10gal or 20 gal for dirt cheap so you may as well go with one of those.

Oh well... Forget what i said earlier about the buisness. Anyways, i’ll probobly get a... Paccy! Yeay, yeay yeay. Yeay..........Yeay. Not sure though. Just caring for the blotched little guy is going to ad up to like $20.00 a month(not much to you guys...probobly) So i guess we will see. But my local pet-shop(very cool, and experianced) was just restocked. They now have a normal green paccy, and an albino. I already have the 5 gal set up, very moist coco-fibre, and one side of the tank has exo-terra’s BIG water bowl. So he can go on either side, water or land. What do you think?

Oh well... Not really, he’s actually a she. And the needles are not needles more like thorns so they don’t get stuck inbetween scales. I just think it looks kool. She seems to like it to tell you the truth, she hangs out right next to it and hunts!

Oh well... You shouldn’t put any frog into a 5 gallon like others have siad.....you can get a 10 gallon at Walmart or Petco for under $10! You have to give any frog no matter how small room to be active and hunt. If you want your Pacman to be happy and healthy....spring for the ten gallon....he’ll be able to live in it longer.....:)~~Lisa
That Lizard is soo cute......what lighting and temps does it need? water? thanks:)

Oh well... I have her in a ten gal. right now, but when i get a male i’m gona move to a 15 or 20 for breeding. Basic desert temps, ussually the tank is 90-100 and then like room temp or colder at night. Just remember if you get one that they will bury themselves under the substrate if it gets to hot or to cold ie; at night or in middle of day. Right now she’s on dry coco-fibre but i will probobly get some sand for her. I have a few rocks here and there for decore and a small water dish. She is very sensitive to movement and will often go after crickets, i’m still trying to get her to eat mealworms from the dish. Hopefully when i move to white sand they will be easily seen. I havn’t really seen her drink water, but i keep one in there just to be safe. They will also sometimes open there mouth when they are to hot. If you need any more help i always am on here:)

Oh well... Sand is the worst thing for any lizard or frog.....it causes impaction in the lizard if it sticks to it’s food and makes it so it can’t poop or digest its food properly.....and can also irritate your lizard eyes.

Oh well... But these lizards actually live in the desert, it’s natrual. I would rather have a happy lizard with a slight survival risk than an unhappy akward feeling lizard. I’m not trying to be mean or cruel, it’s just everyone that i have seen caring for them use sand. They also enjoy burrowing in the sand when it’s to hot or to cold. You see what i mean?

Oh well... Also, the crickets they eat leave no room for sand to get in there. The crickets are simply to big!

Oh well... The sand will stick to the crickets and then your lizard will eat it.....Hmmm do what you want but think of the health of the Lizards and if you have money for vet bills :(.......Sorry everything i read about it is bad! There are other thinks you can use.....like flat slat rock.....I’ll check it out.

Oh well... well it all depends on the animal too becuase sand is ok depending on how much you use and how fast the lizzard will eat the crickets if they eat them all in a 1 minute then it should be fine. And you cant belive everything that you read.you have to try stuff to find things out for your self.every animal is diffrent.like my bullfrog he ready eating pinky’s,well newborn that just come out. and he is only like 2 1/2 inches he should wait till he 3 inches.

Oh well... your frog eating pinkies has nothing to do with this.......The sand will cause impaction.grrr.......and yes believe some things you read specially if they are on a great forum like this with smart people that have experience.

Oh well... Sand can be bad for some lizards, but for others it should be used. Berber skinks, sandfish, and a few others need a borrowing substrate, and I dont believe their is any data of impaction in these species.
Bed a beast is similar to sand (as it is nondigestible, small particles) but still many people use it as well.
