Need Help NOW with grey tree frog eggs and tadpoles.
| Well this is not going to be very short, but for those of you who truly love tree frogs you might find it amusing. Before I go any further let me please say that I am needing information about "grey tree frogs" ONLY. OK LOL. I have a small pool that did not finish getting set up, it’s maby 12’ across and 3.5 feet deep. Well their was a small hole somewhere that has stil yet to be found in the pool so its about 2’ deep now. It has been neglected for about 10 days. Sitting on my porch last night I was listening to the grey tree frogs around here, I saved 5 from a friends pool 2 yrs ago and they are multiplying :) Well I have family here now and need to get the pool up and going, with that in mind I was listening to the frogs here last night. Noticing that it sounded like one was towared the pool. Well I got the flashlight and went looking. Much to my pleasure I saw a pair or grey tree frogs mating in the pool. But like I said I have to get the pool going. So I went and looked this afternoon, well guess what, I found eggs, so yes I saved them during cleaning. But I found the male still hiding in the pool so I know i will have more eggs tomorrow. I have a 55 gallon aquarium that was ready for fish with good clean watter. I emptied alot of the watter and added the eggs and some of the standing pool water. I need to know the care of the tadpoles and what to feed them water temp etc. To let you know just why I wanna save them, well I can sit here at night and listen to several dozen. Please help me, help them, get more and more, and flourish into others yards. |

If you wanna do whats best.....
| I would go to a small pond or stream and place the eggs and the frogs in their. Then, add chemicals and get the pool up and running ASAP as they will start to notice the chemicals in the water. |

Good idea BUT

| Releasing the eggs into the wild is a great idea but concider this, all the areas I can find already have 2" to 3" tadpoles in the watter. We all know what 1/4" tadpoles would be to these larger ones, yes food. The pool is up and going now, but the eggs have hatched, and yes safe in an aquarium. I have a decent clutch of 2 to 3 hundred grey tree frog tadpoles. I really need help with the care of these please. Thanks for your time. I need NOW, to know when they start feeding and just what to feed them. They have been out for 2 days now just content to hang on the side of the aquarium.. Just for those of you who are concerned,,,grey tree frog eggs only take 3 days to mature to tadpoles, not 4 as as originally thought. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!! |

Right now there must be some type of build up on the bottom of the tank. Are they nibling on the bottom and sides of the tank? That is a good thing because the are eating ogi(spell check). When the get older (they walk) try to attrack flys and catch them (the smaller ones (they are easy)and and put the tadpoles in something with dirt and water. Pluck a wing of each fly and put them in there. They should be mature enough by then. I know this because i have a tree frog named Jeff. |

My tadpoles
Sorry for the delay in rsponce. Thanks to Iggy Mom for the link, great info . Math wiz, yes they are nibbling everywhere. Funny thing is this, the tadpoles I have are developing color patterns, I found and have been watching some that hatched in a bucket about a week before the ones I saved, and the ones in the bucket are still tiny and black. I have been feeding them regular tropical fish food. Sad thing aboud these tadpoles is this, some tend to "swallow" air and thus they get bubbles in their gut . Good thing is that I still have a couple hundred still growing strong. I have a rock ready for them to climb on but havnt noticed any legs developing at all yet. I am curious to know if anyone have has seen tadpoles have problems with air bubbles???? I dont have a filter going that adds bubbles btw,, just good water. I will work on a cpl of pictures in the next few weeks if I can. Also, does anyone know if you can order small live food for them as they come out of the water?? Thanks for the help, Thumper |

| Boil spinach or lettuce for them to eat.Put in 2 or 3 inches of water. Put a large rock in the middle for chaging into a frog. That’s all I know. --Chase |
