The care of a pregnant frog

Yes I was wondering, my grandparents are wondering what to do with a frog that’s pregnant. We really want to keep it, but in order for it to be in great shape, it needs to have the right stuff including something lay it’s eggs in. If you have a solution, please let me know before tomorrow before 8:00am.
Hope to hear from you soon. I need to jump to the shower, get it? Jump?

Sincerely, Chad

Why do you think it is pregnant? Frogs don’t actually get fat and look pregnant. What type of frog is it? Can you send a pic of it? If not can you describe it?

Care for it the same as you would a non pregnant frog, except provide a large water section with submerged vegetation and branches, which the eggs will be layed on. Remove the eggs after being laid, and put them in an aquarium by themselves. Make sure you have a filter in this seperate aquarium. By the way, many frogs can look pregnant, when really they are just quite fat.

I apologize if you got duplicated messages on this forum, but all was due to the fact that a different computer that I was on had some minor glitches and therefore caused me to duplicate the messages. Anyways I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have lead to and hope it never happens again. Anyways thanks for responding to my message.

Sincerely, Chad

Josh, you mentioned putting the eggs into a separate aquarium. Why?? The eggs have no chance of hatching unless the frog is back in the wild where it can call a mate to firtilize the eggs. Frog eggs are firtilized after they exit the females body. Since its just one female frog the eggs won’t hatch into tads.
I personally think that its just a fat frog since I havent heard of frogs spawning in august. I would think the frog would be happiest back in the wild so next year it can spawn and create more frogs. Just remember, removing one female frog means that there will be at least 100 less tadpoles the following summer.

I googled Plains Leopard frogs, and it did say that they can spawn late summer. If that is what kind of frog that they have. But your right the eggs are not firtilize until they leave the female.
And I totally agree it should be put back in the wild. As we all know the chances of an adult frog surviving after being taken out of the wild is very slim.
I hope they rethink the situation and do the right thing and let it go.
