 Recent Aggression

I’m usually on the corn snake forum but I’ve got a minor problem with my garter. I’ve had a puget sound garter snake since around August of ’07 and in the recent two months it suddenly turned extremely aggressive. It’s still young-- only about 9 months or so and it use to be really docile and tame, eating out of my hand, able to be handled etc. At first it just struck half-heartedly at me and I would leave it alone for a few days but then it got progressively worse and now it tries to strike at me every chance it gets. It will follow me around when I’m near its tank. Cleaning its tank has now become a game of dodge and retreat.
It still eats fine (pinkies), sheds fine, very active, but refuses to be handled now. I’ve tried cooling it down and allowing it to get use to my body heat, handling it frequently, taking it out of the tank to feed it, but no matter what I do it just keeps trying. It’ll puff up and flatten its head to make itself seem bigger, striking repeatedly, and I’m at a loss of what to do. It’s small right now so it doesn’t really matter but when it gets bigger it’ll be kind of a problem. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to do? If I really can’t deal with it, I’ll find a new home for it but I want to try everything I can first. Thanks. =)
