today i went to a fancy petco about the size of a petsmart and they had cute baby garder snakes.it is so cute when there little head sticks out of the bedding i explained to my mom about what they ate but the awnser to getinfg one was no.they were cheap there to only eighteen dollars per snake.i am kinda sad.

Petco has a bad reputatinon for having sickly animals or otherwise stressed, miscared for, and poorly kept. Go with a private breeder or trusted pet store like ones listed on Kinsnake.com. Hope this helps, Alec

I was up at PetSmart just yesterday getting crickets and we mentioned we just found a garter snake (I almost stepped on it in the yard!) and the worker said "yea, people bring those in from their back yards all the time, they sell so fast because they’re so cheap." So I imagine all their garter snake stock is local wild-caughts, probably not treated for anything either.
