Prey
i’ve had many ribbons and a few garters before(and now). not one ribbon would eat an earthworm but all of the garters would. that’s what i don’t understand about these snakes. they are so closely related, yet prefer certain prey? |

All my garters and ribbons eat worms, earth worms, night crawlers, etc... I dont know Why yours dont eat them, It might simply be the snake, Some of mine have refused certain kinds of food before. I hope this helps... I may be wrong but realy sometimes it depends on the bloodline of the snake, if it is captive and has generations before it of captive bred snakes only fed on one type of food, it could possible totally refuse that certain food items. |

also could be,like you said, there are tons of toads, frogs and minnows so maybe they just focus on those prey and could care less about an earthworm. |
