 NEED HELP PLEASE!

HEy guys! my ribbon snake got out of his cage almost 3 months ago and i couldnt find him anywhere! just then my mom was cleaning the basement and here he was! alive!!! i am so excited its a miracle ! i need help cause i want to nurse him back to health. he is exhausted and he has 2 brown scales right next to each other, i dont know what to feed him at the moment cause i dont know what he has been living off of these past months. i was thinking of giving him some canned salmon juice, nothing solid yes cause it may be hard on his stomach..(i dont know if thats true for snakes)

if you guys can help it would be greatly appretiated! thanks so much :)

Keep him on that supplement.
Your snake didnt eat anything in your house (unless you have fish, mice, or worms all over lol)
they can go months without eating.

TAKE HIM OFF the juice and go to mice. This is a good chance to get him on mice because he will probably eat just about anything now.
They are not like humans about warming their stomachs up... He needs a big meal
You had him on fish im guessing so see if he eats pinky mice first and if he doesnt than use Rosy red minnows.
Mice are a healthier and cheaper way to keep your snake than fish and worms.

What is your setup like? what size tank? what do you have in it? what kind of diet did you have him on?
If you can answer these I can probably help you know how to prevent future escape or better care (if needed)

Good Luck!

thanks a lot! i have fed him a mix between pinkies and fish.

i had him in a 10 gallon tank for a year with a really heavy grate cover that i got at the pet store. i used paper towel for the substrate and i hat a few sticks for him to climb on and a water bowl in the cool side of the tank and a shelter on each side of the tank hah. i keep having trouble with the temperatures though. i had a light on the warm side too.

after a year i switched over to a 20 gallon i had the same set up but with a snake safe bark substrate for looks i guess, but i fed him outside of the tank. and i didnt have a top for the tank so i made one out of an old screen in the basement, some cardboard and some tape on top hah. it was like that for a few days until i was going to get a new top. i had books on top so it would have some weight on top. but he got out.

i forgot to mention before that his head was curling backwards with his mouth open. im guessing this was because of a vit. deficiency. and the roof of his mouth was blue ( i dont know if thats normal).

thanks a lot! i fed him a mix of pinkies and fish. i forgot to mention before that he has a blue spot on the roof of his mouth, and that he curled his head back with his mouth open i think he was haveing a seizure im guessing from the vit. deficiency.

about the set up: when i got him i had a 10 gallon tank, a light, and a heating pad, and a shelter on the warmer side. on the cooler side i had the water dish, and another shelter. plus a had a few branches for him to climb around on. i had a pretty heavy grate top that i baught at the pet store. for the substrate i used paper towel.

i had him in that for a year so now that he grew a bit since i got him i decided to get a 20 gallon tank. the set up was the same except for the substrate and the top. for the substrate i used snake safe bark (for looks [i fed him outside of the tank]). for the top i rigged up something homemade to tie him over until they get a top for a 20 gallon tank. it was made from a screen that i found at home and some cardboard for the frame and some tape hah.

thanks,

PETER

is his mouth still like that?
This might be Respitorry infection, raise temps, feed a little more, keep the vitamins and calcium comming

Do not use paper towls anymore
Switch to ASPEN bedding cheapest and best thing for your snake
not cedar or pine bedding
Buy a real top.
Is it full grown? if so feed it 1 mouse a week (or if pinkies are really small put 2 in a feeding
make sure you use spring water or kill chlorine in tap water.
To keep warm side good temp. use a UTH (under tank heater)

 NEED HELP PLEASE!

his mouth problem could also be mouth rot... if it is buy calcium sups Vitamin b sups etc... and mix it in with liquids
it is a bacterial infection in mouth and I would advise a Vet before doing any treatment yourself.
Look up what mouth rot AND RESPITORY INFECTION are and see if your snake has any of those.
If not just update me on what he is doing, acting, etc..
Good Luck!
