 Candeling and possible twins?

i posted this in the crested gecko forum, but thought it might apply more to this one so here it goes

ok, so i was candeling one of my eggs that is due to hatch at any time now, and it looks like there are two heads on opposite ends... is it possible for there to be twins inside the egg, or could it just be the light playing a trick? because in the other egg i can see head, feet, tail... one baby, but i swear that the other one looks like there are two in it, and it has looked like that ever since i could see a form inside the egg. it also has always weighed a bit more than the other one. i might just be paranoid, but i wanted to get an opinion or a theory of some sort.

thanks!

I don’t think that there can be more then one in an egg, but I am not sure. It could be deformed with two heads, but hopefully you are right and it is two babies.

Actually, there can be two in an egg. Eggs are common to have multiple yolks, and thus, multiple embryo’s. However, the tragedy comes when they get near hatching age and they both "suffocate". The lack of space also generally chokes off any chance at hatching.

Let us know how it turns out though, could be interesting to see "twins".

well, the clutch actually died.... it happened on thanksgiving. one of the eggs tried to hatch out the bottom, and didn’t make it. the other egg started sweating so i let it be for a day, then someone told me to pip it, when i did the baby was dead, but it was much larger than the other, and there was a large veign an yolk looking thing that wasn’t attatched to anything but the egg... so no twins, but bad news either way... it was the mothers first clutch, and the eggs seemed perfect, but i don’t know, i think they may have been too thick...
