 Where To Find Baby Cresties?

Hello all,

For a while now, I’ve been thinking of purchasing a baby crested gecko. (Though I might have t get rid of my tarantulas to make some "pet space")

Would you so kindly point me in a direction of a trusted site/breeder/seller where I can obtain a baby crested gecko? None of the petlands and petcos sell any around here.

I’m pretty sure that Pat at PMPreptiles.com would have some, he had lots of eggs incubating end of Nov when I was there. (He is also working with other Rhacs) Besides, you can also get the Clarks diet from him as well, two birds with one stone. You can shoot him an email at , he is really good about answering emails.

Another option is checking out any local shows you have, the good thing about going through a breeder like Pat or one at a show is that you can get more info regarding the parentage, and possibly have your gecko sexed as well.

I got my gecko Semor from there and i couldnt be happier. I highly reccommend this breeder they are nice and honest and produce beautiful and healthy reptiles. They sell snakes beardies and geckos. Semor is the joy of my life. This is an amazing breeder

WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT BUY A CRESTIE AT PETCO OR PETSMART. THE BREEDER THEY GET THE ANIMALS FROM ABUSE THEM. THEY ARE NOT FED WELL AND CRAMPED IN LITTLE CAGES W/ HUNDREDS OF OTHER CRESTIES. THEY ARE UNHEALTHY TOO.

reptile gal, that statement, in my experience, is wrong... i believe petsmart and petco get their cresties from repashy... and 2 out of 3 of my cresteds are from petsmart and are just as healthy as the one that isnt...

jimski you are actually 100% right, most of them do come from repashy himself when bought at petco, i am not sure about petsmart, but considering he has the largest crested gecko colony in the world, i would not be supprised if he did with them as well.

although i agree with the housing statement, the health and the way they are fed, and sometimes even how they are housed depends entirely upon the managerial staff at that particular location, or the information that the breeder gives them[not all stores have repashy geckos, but a large majority does]. and if it is really that bad at your particular location you should report it immediately, because that means that the other animals probably aren’t taken care of that well either, so there will be an inspection and probably a few replacements. from what i understand, they usually hire a herp "expert" or two to do research on particular reptiles and it is their job to set the cages up, so maybe that guy needs to be replaced where you are, but four out of the twelve that i have are from petco, infact the only breeding pair i have at the moment is from petco and three of the four are completely healthy.


now back to the original post, pangea as mentioned before is a great place to look, also if you go down to the forums section[very bottom of page in a very small blue link] , there are little adds at the top of the page for other breeders, and they also have a trade section i n the forums.

I dont reccomend them I have been to many petcos and there cresties and other reptiles were not healthy. There were 20 in less than a 10 gallon tank. If you want a long living and healthy gecko you should get one from sundialreptile.com
My gecko is the cuddliest gecko I’ve seen and he is extremely healthy
They also are very pretty

well it depends on the place, i work at a petsmart, and ours come from sandfire actualy... and we currently only have two.... it depends on the store and the employees

ok well i live in MA and im sorry if i offended you. its just im very dissapointed in the care of the poor reptiles. Many of them are crammed in little tanks w/ many other reptiles. I just want to make sure this person gets a wonderful gecko and im very pleased w/ sundialreptile.com
My gecko semor is very colorful and has no health problems and hes 1year 6 months old. Stil young but hes healthy.

reptile gal, you should really report them to their regional companion animal coordinator! tell that person how they are being treated/caged/fed and how you are supposed to do it, the person won’t just shrug you off, they can go under legal scrutiny if they are mis treating the pets they are selling it is the same as animal cruelty if they are not housed correctly! tell the person that no more than ten very small hatchlings can be kept in a ten gallon, that adults, juvies and babies, [males and females should be seperated] should never all be housed together because of such things as early breeding which can cause mbd and calcium crash in the females and also makes it very difficult for a male to gain weight after wards which just leads to unhealthy geckos and sometimes even death[usually of the female]... and tell the person that it isn’t just one, but many of the ones in your area are doing this, maybe even make a list so you can specifically tell her/him what is being done wrong at which location? and they will specifically tell each manager what they need to do. i don’t work at petco, but i have known people who do and the regional companion animal coordinator takes all suggestions very seriously!
