 The sick c.gecko i have

This is him :(
You can see his saggy jaw with his tounge sticking out and his funny feet. He may have a few broken toes. But he’s on a good diet of baby food and his rep-cal mixed in. He’s still not strong enough to catch crickets. I’ll keep you guys updated on how he’s doing.

instead of baby food with rep-cal you should really just get him CGD. it already has everything they need mixed in it so you just have to mix 1 part diet and part water and feed it to them.

i posted a link to the crested gecko diet (CGD) in your other thread

good luck.

poor guy! i would definitely get him on CGD, baby food really isn’t good for him, but you can get the Crested Gecko Diet at petsmart and petco for five dollars. he also looks dehydrated a little bit, so i would put him in a little deli cup with luke warm water in it, and let him soak for a few minutes, just make sure it isn’t deep enough to drown in... i would also try to get some of the shed off of his toes, how often do you feed and mist, also do you have water available to him at all times?

did you read that he does get his baths?
why wouldnt i let him have access to water at all times? im not the person who did this to him. He’s a rescue.

first of all, i don’t know you, i don’t know your experience with crested geckos and some people do not put water dishes in with them because they think "oh, well they drink water when i spray the cage, so they probably don’t need a water dish..." i was not saying that you are stupid, or even implying that! and i didn’t say that you did this to him either, i was just simply trying to help you. go back and look at your own post, you did not say that he gets baths, or that he was a rescue, so don’t flip out on me because you are pissed off. if you have more experience in this than i do, than why are you feeding the poor little guy a diet which will further make him sick? the sugar alone in babyfood will dehydrate a crested gecko horribly, and make him/her feel worse while it is ill. have you ever eaten tons of sugar while you were sick? simply because i don’t know you, i wasn’t going to say this, but babyfood is probably why he is sick in the first place. it is the leading cause of MBD in crested geckos

babyfood has sugar in it and it is not a sound diet especially if all you add to it is calcium, they need other minerals and vitamins than just calcium and sugar which they can not get wile living in the type of environment that we provide them. the only reason that the live off of fruit and insects without minerals/vitamins added to them in the wild is because they drink water that has these vitamins and minerals leached into it by the surrounding rocks, the insects also eat different types of plants that give nutrients to them as well. go to allen repashy’s website and ask him. he will tell you in full detail why baby food is bad for them. in fact on his website you are not even aloud to use the word baby because food usually comes after it when most people are using that word in any reference to crested geckos. that word is edited out of every post. Allen Repashy specifically made CGD so that there was no possible way a crested could get sick due to lack of proper diet. he says himself, do not feed babyfood for the reasons that i just said, and i’m sorry, but i am willing to trust the herpetologist who found them and brought them into the pet trade to begin with over someone who just doesn’t care and does what ever is convenient or cheaper rather than doing what is best for what is supposed to be their pet. so go ahead and freak out if you want to, but i am not going to respond again.

They don’t "think" your stupid, you ARE STUPID!!! You come on here and ask for advice, and then when they give you some on what you asked, and THEN SOME EXTRA, you get angry at them. How much experience DO you really have? "A" year? 2? some people on hear have 10 or MORE years experience!!!

Yes, please explain why you don’t use research recommended food? People already DID tell you why it is better. It has ALLLLLLLLLL nutrients needed. IT IS CALLED A COMPLETE DIET!!!! you just mix and feed, no worrying about what and how much calcium, or other vitamins to put in with a baby food.

I did read that he gets baths. IF YOU did ANY research, you would know that he doesn’t need any more baths except if he has a stuck shed. And that is only to get the shed off. The humidity in the enclosure should do the rest!!

I know you aren’t the person who did this, and we all congratulate you on this, but you don’t get angry at people for helping, ESPECIALLY when YOU asked for help.

First off, calm down. People are just tryig to help. I dont recall anyone saying you did this to him.

2ed. What kind of baby food (name brand) are you using?

A little about baby food VS. CGD. Crested gecko diet is a blend of the things they need such as unique fats, proteins, minerals, and vitamins that can not be found in baby food even with added vitamins. Baby food generally is just one or 2 types of fruit mixed up with added sugar and preservatives to add to the shelf life. If your gecko is still to unhealthy to hunt crickets why not switch to a food that is healthier for them? Baby food was never suggested by anyone I know of with out crickets in the diet at least 3 times a week. Most everyone I know of (breeders) do not recommend baby food any more. It is considered by most to be an outdated and unhealthy choice of diets. A few years ago this was a different story but times change and people have more choices now.

Good luck with your gecko, I hope he starts doing better.
