Could use some advice plz a crested gecko needs at LEAST a twent gallon for an adult, but depending upon it’s size, it can have a ten gallon while it is a juvie then you can buy the ten gallon tank topper, and that turns it into a twenty gallon, though you may have to cover some of it because since it is made out of screen, it can pose a problem with humidity. i have one, and i just put saram wrap around some of the screen! but it works out great i don’t have the link to it at the moment because it is on my other computer, but i will give you a link tomarrow. and for how tame they are, that really depends upon how often you hold it. a baby is going to be more flighty than an adult who has lived X amount of years with human interaction, rather than a juvie who has only been around them for a few months. you could ask the breeders if there was a way for you to hold them, that way you can see which one has the personality you are looking for, but if you do that, take a little thing of antibacterial gel, or baby whipes with you. you don’t want to handle a bounch of lizards without washing your hands in between. it won’t cause any harm to you, but it could do some massive dammage if you touch one sick lizard, and then go touch a bunch of healthy ones! pluss carying that with you, will also put the minds of the breeders at ease about it if they don’t have any at their table. some will want to see you wash your hands in front of them before they let you hold one, but i can’t really blame them!
as far as price goes, that really depends upon the breeder, age, size, morph, and sex of the gecko. i have seen them anywhere from $75 - $400, but the most common prices i have seen at a reptile show are between 150 and 200, so i would say take 200 just to be safe, and then if you get a bargan, you have some money to spend on stuff to go inside the cage, or anything else that catches your eye as well. they had some prety awesome driftwood selections at the last one i went to. another thing i would do, go on the last day of the reptile show, everyone seems to mark down their prices on the last day because they want to get rid of what they have while they are there... and don’t forget to ask questions! how old is this one, has it ever been caged with others, what diet is it currently on, has it had any shedding issues, do you have a guess at what the age is, and do you have a card/email address so that if i think of anything later i can contact you? in most cases, the more questions you ask, the better a breeder will feel [lol, at least i would think so, i know that i feel better when a buyer asks questions! babies are unbelevably difficult to part with, even if you have four that look exactly the same!]
anyways! if you have any more questions don’t hesitate to ask!
i hope everything goes well and you get a cutie soon!
