Crickets?
Hey, I had a bearded dragon back in November, but she died from some unknown cause, was just fine, than up and died. Anyways, I am curious if Cresties can live without crickets, as I know there is some sort of feed that is supposed to be a complete thing, with just crickets as a treat. I’m thinking of either getting another beardie or a crestie, and am just waying my options. Cricket’s were not my favorite part of the bearded dragon, but I could stand them. So, is it ok to not feed with crickets, and use the premade stuff, or are crickets a must?

Crickets? Crickets are definitely beneficial, as with all herps that aren’t strictly herbivorous or carnivorous. They provide mental stimulation, and a variety of other things that "complete" diets do not. In my opinion, they should make up at least 10% of the diet, if not more. Other people feel otherwise, this is just my personal preference.

Crickets? Would you think 5 crickets a week, on say, friday, as a treat would work well? Or more?

Crickets? that would be fine, but you have to make sure that you feed the Crested Gecko Diet every night, except for the night that you feed crickets. i give my hatchlings crickets once a week, but my adults only get them every other week sometimes only once a month and they are all really healthy. the crickets help them to grow faster when they are younger, but i have a few adults who won’t eat cricket if their lives depended upon it! i am not quite sure why, though i think with one of my females it had to do with breeding, she stopped eating them shortly after she started breeding, but has a clean bill of health by the vet [and he knows cresties really well] so that is why the adults get them so infrequently, i don’t want to stress her out!

Crickets? i forgot to say that from what i have heard, crested geckos are much easier to take care of than bearded dragons. i don’t know this from experience because i have never had a beardie, but i love cresties!

Crickets? i have a beardie and a crestie and yes the crestie is way easier. for the crestie you just buy the CGD powder and mix it with water. for a beardie you must buy multiple kinds of greens, veggies, fruits, and insects. beardies need higher temps than cresties also. a crestie does well at room temperature.
the only thing for a crestie that is harder than a beardie is the humidity level. but that is fairly easy.
