Food I read on one of the care sheets that they eat baby food, from expierence, have you guys noticed if they prefer a certain type or flavor, and is that Meal replacement poweder that they can also eat, is that available at most pet cos and such? and dont worry, if i do get a crested gecko, he will enjoy nice live crickets, but how often do you suggest this? Im really new to this, so any advice would be great, thanks guys!

Food there are alot of care sheets that are horribly out dated or just completely mis-inform, baby food is actually pretty bad for them, but you should be able to get the Crested Gecko Diet at any Petco, or Petsmart. crickets i would suggest feeding once a week, and only put in 6 at a time [for one gecko] 6 is the maximum they will eat in one night from what i have seen. also the crickets should be no longer than the length from eye to eye, just to ensure that it isn’t too big. and you give the crested gecko diet every night...
don’t be shy if you have any other questions, it is better to ask whatever comes to mind, it will help you be more prepared! something i will have to caution you about though, if you get one, you are opening yourself up to a very strong addiction!!!!!

Food
thanks for your reply :) i really would love to get them cause yo dont have to be consitnatly feeding them crickets, which my mom is dumb about, and i already have a hedgehog so im worried my mom will just poo poo the idea, but im leaving next year, so i want to have a cage and a crested all started before i move, im assuming that most appartment land owners dont care too much ab out small reptiles, or am i completely wrong? and Where would be the best place to buy them? Theres a huge nice looking petco by my house, and i couldnt seem to find any type of reptile show around the southeastern wisconsin area, or do you suggest buying them from a breeder online? Thanks :)

Food Definitely don’t buy from petco, even if they look healthy... look for a show, near you, (by near you it could be a few hours away). The closest to me is in Hamburg PA and White Plains NY. These are both a few hours away...
If you don’t want to go to a show, an online breeder is great, there are so many...

Food most apartments have a one tank limit, but it is usually referring to fish tanks because they are worried about water damage, i just wouldn’t tell them, or in a secretive way find out if they have issues with "exotics" by asking if they have any pet restrictions for FUTURE REFERENCE, but i just wouldn’t tell them about it. [that is what i am doing simply because i have to find an apartment who definitely will take large dogs, and that is difficult enough!]
as far as where to get one. alot of people have issues with petco, but i really don’t see why, most of the petco’s get their cresteds from Allen Repashy, or other really large scale breeders as well. the only issue is whether the petco in question is treating the animals right, and giving them the correct environment. i personally have four from petco, three of which have never had any health issues, and two of those three are actually my breeding pair. the one that had health issues i knew was sick, and that was why i got her, she also happened to be my first crested gecko ever. but you can get sick gecko’s even from breeders. what i would definitely tell you not to do, is do not buy from kingsnake, i have too many friends who have gotten really sick geckos from people on kingsnake.
here is what to look out for, if the gecko seems to have no crests, if one eye is a different coloration than the other[like it is sort of shadowy], if one eye is larger than the other, if it has a kinky tail, or if it walks strangely.
i hope that helps!
