Can I put a crested gecko in a screen cage?

I would say so, you’d just have to mist more often because it won’t hold in humidity as well.

i wouldn’t suggest it. it wouldnt be good for it because there would be no way to keep the humidity to where it needs to be unless you had the room humidified to 70% at all times, but then no person would be able to go into that room for any length of time without getting sick. [our lungs arent meant to handle that and i unfortunately just learned that it is ok to turn the humidifier on every once in a while, but definitely not all the time. it had been dry in my house because of the heater so i was trying to up the ambient humidity so that i didn’t drown my poor guys when i misted them!] poor humidity can cause dehydration, shedding issues, and even thought shedding issues don’t sound like they are a big deal, it really is.

the shed skin becomes plastered to their new skin, and they have issues gaining weight, they get scarring all over their body from where the shed was stuck, they stop eating, and sometimes they just really can’t move... just tons of issues. [this is called Dysecdysis, and i unknowingly bought a gecko who had this, i have had her for just over four months now, and she is just now starting to shed on her own, without my help. since i have had her, she has gained almost 20g’s which usually takes about 6 months. i felt so bad for her, and i am just glad that i have her and she was in the early stages if the illness. but it definitely is not something anyone wants to experience. it isn’t contagious, but it is very harmfull to the one who has it.]

lol. ok so the point is, screen cages while ok for some species, they really arent that good for cresties. if you really wanted a screen cage though you would have to put alot into it to make it hold humidity, and by that time, you probably would save yourself alot of time and money by just getting one that is plexi or glass

sorry about my long winded-ness i am still sick and on cold medicine. and i am not trying to "scare" you into not getting one, just want you to know what can happen, and how important humidity is for these guys.
