 Issue with CGD and feeding

ok. so. first off. i dont know what kind of dish to use for the food. i am using a cap from a bottle ATM and i mix 1/2ts with 1 ts water. 2 to 1. it dries up pretty darn quick in his cage. i tried mixing about 4 days worth into a baby food container but it seporated and i didnt know the shelf life of it. but again. it dries up to fast for the little guy to eat it. i never see him eat from it , i usto see little toung marks in the food but i havent seen it in about a week. and he isnt very active at night. i left him alone for about 4 days like ya’ll said.

he’ll eat wax worms and crickets what not. but i dont want him getting fat, and i hear that you shouldnt feed crickets but once a week. i hear that he should be eating the CGD daily. but to tell you the truth its a pain in the .....

can i get some tips on feeding, and examples of how,when,how often. and all that? i read alot of care sheets but some are just way different then others. idk what to follow. he just doesnt seem happy.

only had mine like 3-4 months so i dont consider myself any kind of authority on it but i usually mix up more than what the cg would eat just because it does dry up so fast. ill usually change the food out as its getting dark and mist so when it wakes up its good to go. as far as i can tell she doesn’t eat much and ive only seen her actually eat cgd a few times as it is but i find feces so i know shes eating. was going to try the premixing some like you did but after reading that i think ill just stick to the day to day basis. mine could use a bit of fattening up so im probebly goin to start implementing pheonix worms here n there soon.

a cap from a bottle?? what kind? tall or low?

the food can last up to a week.. it does seperate. all you have to to is shake it up and your good to go.

how old is the crestie?? if its still young cut out the waxies growing cresties dont need all that fat.. you may need to cut back the crickets more too he may just be waiting each week for the crickets. but thats up to you..

as for tips on feeding the CGD put fresh stuff in the dish at night right before lights out and your nightly misting.

for him not being active whats the temp in his cage? you may want to think about adding a little heat if its colder.

i tried mixing more water then recomended. it seems to last longer. and a nightly mist works great to keep the food lasting threw the night. he seems alot more active now aswell. i treated him to 3 small crickets today, first crickets in 2-3 weeks. he gobbled them up.
he’s getting big now too.

Try mixing the CGD with baby food. Mine love it when I mix CGD w/ Tropical Medley baby food.
