Help...Crested escaped in van on way home..
Help...my son bought a crested (eyelash) gecko today. On the way home it got out of the container and went up under the dash. I was able to locate him for a little bit but he moved and we can not see him now. I have talked to my mechanic about taking the dash apart but that is out of the question financially. I have a container with some baby food and water with a small flash light set up hoping to draw him down. I thought about setting sticky trap but afraid of pulling his tail or feet off. I have another vehicle I can drive for awhile but prefer to drive my van so the sooner I can coax him out the better. Any suggestions?

Help...Crested escaped in van on way home.. Day 2, I have a container in my van that has crickets in it. I also have a bowl of baby food and water. I go out every hour or so to check and look around...still no sign of him. My son is so upset about this. I won’t be driving the van for awhile just in case the little guy is still in there. I will keep checking under the hood but don’t think that there is any way for him to get out there, it is sealed pretty good.

How did you find him???? Congrats!!! Hey make sure u dont handle him for a while because he just faced tons of stress in the van. Leave him be for a week or two. Glad you found him, and happy to help!

I’m a bit late to this...but glad that there is a happy ending.
Some advice in case of any future escapes: since geckos are so good at climbing many surfaces, putting Vaseline or something slippery near the inner lip of a container can help prevent them from getting out once they climb in.

Help...Crested escaped in van on way home.. I already had the dash half torn apart so we could see a little better up under it. My husband got the air compressor out and blew jets of air up under it. Must have scared the little guy because he came out. I sent a text to my son and let him know, he was so happy. He won’t be home from his dad’s for a few days so the little guy will have peace and quiet until then. The disturbances he will have is me changing his water and food and misting him. The environment is all set up so I think we are good to go.

Help...Crested escaped in van on way home.. thats awesome that you got him out!
after all that stress and the scare of the air you need to give him at least 1 week before attempting to handle him, preferably 2 weeks. just feed/water, spot clean, and mist the cage in this time. the few days before your son gets home wont be enough.
