At my wits end with tank humidity issue
I have a 40 tall open top tank with an open front, see the link for a more detailed description. Link I’ve had many tropical tanks in the past but I just cant seem to stabilize the humidity in this one. I’ve toyed with the idea of a small humudifier in the tank, but I’m fairly sure that will shatter the fluorescent and heat bulbs. I can seal off the top with a towel, but then not enough heat and uva/b get in. I currently have a small enclosed waterfall...ive run the waterfall outside the tank for hours and confirmed there a no leaks, but after a day or so of running, the water level has gone down maybe an inch, but the substrate is completely saturated to the point where i have 1/2" of standing water under the substrate, which in addition to smelling less than appealing is probably going to encourage the build up of mold.
If ANYONE has any solution I’m all ears, I’ve tried every trick I can think of to no avail.

At my wits end with tank humidity issue first off if you are using a natural substrate I highly recommend you get some hydro balls to that it doesn’t rott. With the hydro balls you can places them about 2inches deep then put screen over top of them and then put your substrate on top of that. then add about 1.5 inches of water. as the water evaporates it helps with the humid. I would also say to mist two times daily. if you wanted you could even add a couple of live plants to help with the humidity. As for the waterfall being empty any chance the gecko is knocking something off of it, or jumping in it and dumping the water ? I am not too sure on anymore ideas.

At my wits end with tank humidity issue you dont normally need heat or UV lights for crested geckos. so you could cover the top with a towel or something.
heat lights are only needed if your cage is going below 65*F for long periods of time.
they are nocturnal geckos so they dont need UV rays.

At my wits end with tank humidity issue Good idea, i hadnt thought about adding hydro balls. And the waterfall is in fact not leaking or losing any water, that was just a quick assumption. Added another two inches of susbrate and some live plants, hopefully that will do the trick

At my wits end with tank humidity issue Guido there’s seriously no way you could be that retarded. UV rays and heat are still needed even if they are nocturnal.
