 Getting Some Cresties!

I assume this is the right place for this..

anyway, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on this site, and I tended to frequent the leo forums rather than the crestie forum.

but here i am again!

I’m planning on going on a little.. quest, I guess we’ll call it... tomorrow with a friend of mine to as many reptile stores as we can before she has to go to work. My ultimate goal is to acquire at least 3 cresteds by the end of the day (or at least have some in mind). I’ve spent the last 2 weeks looking around online at different care sheets, breeder websites, etc. and I’m ready to pick out my new kids!

The stores I’m planning on visiting (I’m in Southern California) are Reptile Island in Yorba Linda, Reptile Depot in Chatsworth, both LLLreptile locations (maybe on Monday instead of Sunday) and possibly Reptile Guru in Chino.

If anyone knows of anymore good reptile stores nearby, please let me know!

Also, any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love learning new things so please don’t hesitate to put any info forward.

Just so everyone knows, I already have multiple cages set aside for whoever ends up coming home with me, and prehistoric pets is right down the street from me in the event that i need any further supplies. I’ve also been monitoring the temps in my room to make sure nothing gets too low or too high.

If you were more around North California, I’d ask you to visit PET’acular Link and post a review of it. They supposedly specialize in Rhacs and don’t limit themselves to just cresteds.

here they are!

the last two are juvies, not sure on the morphs. the dalmatian is a male -less his tail- that i got at a discounted price. he also has a slightly deformed jaw, they said was from fighting, but i think looks more like a calcium deficiency. still, he was only $45 and he’s very active and eating quite well.

any ideas on names? i don’t know if i want to name the little ones just yet, as i don’t know the genders (hoping for females lol)

rubber ducky where did you get em? i live in SoCal too!!! i reaaaaaally want some cresties! i am getting a crested gecko and am buying all my supplies on reptilesupply.com and was wondering if the T-Rex MRD crested gecko food is ok to feed. i am also buying a 15 gal tall tank off glasscages. com plus a screen top. is this large enough for 1? i want to get the crestie off pangeareptile. com is this a good soource? i live in southern california so its pretty hot year round, with a slight cooling in winter/ autom(aka now) is that ok if i just keep them at room temp and keep the humidity up? can you feed cresties criets or any live foods? or just fruits. let me know what you think!! ThANKS

I got my two juvies from reptile depot in chatsworth, and the adult from another store nearby.

15 gal should be fine for 1 gecko.

i really like pangea, they seem like a decent source. if you get one from there you can just order some of their crested gecko diet at the same time. otherwise, i use repashy crested gecko diet. i’m not sure how the one you mentioned would be.

i also really like lllreptile for their reptiles. they have baby and adult crested geckos for decent prices. they have 2 stores, one in Escondido, and one in Oceanside.

i live right by the beach so it doesn’t get too hot here. if its getting hotter than 85 in your house you’ll need to find a way to cool them down. desired temps should be in the mid-upper 70’s.

i offer the crested gecko diet every day, and crickets once a week. you can either feed them the crested gecko diet exclusively, or CGD with crickets.
